Splitting up the team
Junna-“I WILL KICK YOUR ASS AT THIS GAME!” Kai-“Awwww that is so cute.”
Aki-“Wait who are you again?” Subaru-“………..”
Something very interesting happened this week with our main characters with the usual pairing of Kai and Aki! They were stuck with Junna and Subaru as their “partner” but I have to agree with Jrow who said on the recording that it feels as if the robot stuff took a backseat this week in favor of Kai getting a lot of solo screen time. Now that is not a bad thing because I know Aki’s hyper positive personality can wear some of the viewers out; however she really didn’t do a whole lot this week so you might find it to be somewhat refreshing this week.
Now we should talk about Junna hanging out with Kai as they search for ghosts, but wait a minute how do they know each other? Are we missing out on some random side adventure story or are the producers basically saying they were always friends? Not that it really matters because after all Junna is technically a side character or do you think there is a romance possibility between them? Then again watching them interact made me feel their relationship could be more of a sibling / childhood friend thing especially when Kai tried to scare Junna? That felt like something best friends would do to mess around! Either way the true OTP is Kai x Aki anyway right? Fufufufu
Fear of robots?
Junna-“You wouldn’t strike a girl with an eye patch would you?” Kai-“Sst..stop being so CUTE…”
Throughout this series we have run into several characters that have issues with robots, like Junna this week? She does not like them, but why? What could have happened to her in the past or present to make her afraid of them? It almost seems the word robot is kind of taboo in this universe which pushes certain people into two different categories the lovers or haters of robots. Just like Subaru’s father? Who also shares a dislike for them; however I assume we will discover why people hate them eventually. I would laugh if there was some great mecha war back in the day that divided the world, but that might be a little bit crazy…so what do you think about all of this hating on robots or is it just a way to make the dull characters more exciting?

End thoughts
Interesting episode this week full of interesting developments for Kai, but not so much for Aki who was stuck with Subaru who seemed to only provide laughter for me instead of plot progression or anything new towards the robotics club. Even though my favorite girl got pushed to the side I enjoyed watching Kai get pulled into the main story! I mean he discovered something major thanks to Airi, but does Kai even believe that report about the NASA cover up; however Judging by Mizuka’s reaction at the end of the episode I guess it is safe to say that Kai might believe it now. We just have to wait and see if she decides tells him the full story or keeps it hidden forever! So did you enjoy learning the truth about Airi being revealed as an AI or were you expecting something like a time traveler? If they went time travel character they could have said Aki and Kai had a child and BOOM you get Airi! Just kidding! I just hope Airi doesn’t push the BROTHER thing to far, but it’s not like she can physically touch him…anyway…good episode! I just hope the mysteries continue to be addictive.

There were so many freaky things going on here and now to top off, we have a conspiracy concerning NASA. The second half was actually frightening. I seriously didn’t expect that at all.
First, Kaito has surprised me. Not only is he interested in something other than Kill Ballad, he actually asked someone to tag along. How much time has passed between last episode and this one?
Introducing occult stuff in an anime that’s mostly about robots is an odd combination. Seeing the electronics go haywire then a sudden glimpse of a girl that shows up only on the PokéCom was creepy. The fact of knowing that other things have died on the island has made it more so. Like, is the island cursed? What happened? Airi’s forehead symbol reminded me of that old show that used to play on Cartoon Network, Code Lyoko. The abandoned area had that similar feel where the show had the underground computer.
If there is a cover up, it’s an obvious attempt to keep people from panicking like animals because we all know when there’s cause for alarm, people’s common sense tends to go out the window while chaos ensues. The knowledge of huge solar flares acting as an EMP (Electromagnetic pulse) for electronics over a period of years is enough to people lose their minds because we’re so dependent on technology these days to get things done.
Nice eye patch effect on Junna. There have been a handful of eye patch girls this season: Arashi (OniiAi), Valmet (Jormungand) and Rikka (Chuunibyou).

Kai sure is growing! I liked that he teamed up with Junna instead of playing Kill Ballad all day! Now if we can just get the other characters to join in the fun <3
Yeah there is some occult stuff in the air and since Airi is an AI I don't really classify it as a ghost anymore, but there are certainly plenty of occult things in the air especially the dead animals? I remember some of Code Lyoko because my sister was into it LOLOL

I’m finding it hard to keep a lid on the spoilers I found out from reading the wikipedia page, but I do think that a lot of the weird reactions people have toward robots stem from that.
I think conflating the solar issues with the issues like the Anemone incident and Kai’s PokeCom freezing is a red herring. I’m pretty sure that Kai’s PokeCom was Airi hacking it in order to make contact. The persistent aurora is due to increased geomagnetic storm output due to its imminent phase change, but I think everything else has a more human-based reason. The weather and climate changes make for a big story, but I find it hard to believe that increased geomagnetic storm effects would have that much difference on earth wind and ocean current patterns (changes in the overall energy output of the sun would be more likely, but they don’t mention that) which would be the main driver of climate change effects of that scale.
Basically all of the other characters besides Kai and Aki have had episodes off. Juuna was introduced in ep 2, and then we didn’t see her for 2 more episodes.

Ohhhh Wikipedia! Why does it have to spoil us on everything? Damn MAL does it to me all the freaking time…especially on characters! I got spoiled on Airi after the very first episode.

Yeah Junna was in ep2 and now she appeared in 05! I wonder if we will see Frau next time? I would love to see what Junna, Frau and Aki talk about together.

The mood swing in this epiode… from he hijinks of Aki fangirling, Subaru chuuni speech and Junna+Kai occult adventures to Knowing+2012+The Core (said by some1 else though) conspiracy theory with AI imouto…. Never take a “;” show lightly with its plot twist around the corner…
Also, wht else do you know, Miss Shopkeeper aka Kimijima Lover suspect 😉 And I assume the robot will be use to stop the sun from exploding?
