OniAi: The second episode fell a little bit flatter for me. The show is missing a little something, after the first episode had a lot of good banter between the delusional (like more delusional than Rikka Takanashi) Akiko and her brother. I don’t know if the dropping in of all the other girls at once really helped the show or not, but at least it got them in there. It’ll take a couple more episodes to find out more about the rest of them (like in Ep 2, we find out that Gin has been crushing on Akito for years, and pretty much dropped everything to transfer to the same school).

In Ep 1, I felt that Akito had a better grasp on his sister and her bro-con ways and was going to not be the typical dumbass male lead, but Ep 2 left me in more doubt about that. All of the girls are running circles around him, and while he’s still resolved to not get with any of them, it feels a little bit stupider. I think that something the show might need is more cooperation between the girls. Right now, they’re all making individual attacks on Akito, and he’s got his defenses up with all of them, and they’re all against each other. I think they almost need to team up to break him into the idea of being in love with someone, and THEN fight over who that someone will be. But then that will get into more traditional harem, I guess, which might not be good.

And if Anastasia makes the same joke again, well, it won’t be good.

    • skylion says:

She will make the same joke over and over again, until Akito gets the message. At this point, look forward (or not) to seeing it until the last airing.

OriAni: Ooooh this series is sooooooo hilarious! Every week it causes me to laugh my ass off because the girls…oh god..the girls are so freaking random! Even though every other joke is purely sexual and I can see where that might get old really fast for some, but I don’t think much will ever happen in terms of “plot”

Out of all the girls I don’t think Gin will ever grow on me and if she wore glasses she would be Chitose Ikeda from Yuru Yuri <3

Yeah episode one really had a lot of bro-con didn't it? I think Akito is a great main lead! He doesn't appear to be dumb or stupid, but he doesn't realize all the girls WANT him...

      Anastasia <3 she is great!

I dunno I am into this series for the laughs/characters+designs xD

TLR-Darkness: They should use Shadow-kun more instead of Sunbeam-chan, then the “Darkness” could refer to the show because of the censoring (that one scene with Momo in bed with Shadow-kun, tho…). The show’s still fun to watch tho, even with the random light beams. I haven’t gotten around to watching any of the other toraburu series, but I’m still following along with the plot of this one, and it’s got enough plot to keep going. It’s also a bit of a fresh take on the harem genre, since Momo’s trying to get an actual harem together so that everyone’s happy (although poor Rito if that happens).

I can’t compare to the other shows, but Momo’s doing fine as a female lead character on this one. She actually seems like a better lead character than Rito or Lala would be.

    • Foshizzel says:

I KNOW RIGHT?! DAMN! The sunbeam needs to go on a long vacation, but I think Shadow-kun likes to hide under all the skirts! DAMN YOU SHADOW-KUN! Also in ep2 there wasn’t a lot of random shadows for the pantsu shots >.> Momo building a harem is kind of funny…usually girls HATE that idea, but I suppose she is an alien and that kind of plays a factor? I know she mentioned her father has several girls xD

The other seasons were kind of lame compared to Darkness and most of the time it was Rito getting pulled into one random ecchi situation after another! Which was always caused by Lala screwing up some experiment of hers…

I think that is why Darkness tops the other seasons because it is less about Rito’s life and more about Momo, Yami, Nana and Mea! I mean sure MC-Kun is around but he doesnt DO much for the plot…yes there is an actual plot later on! So hang in there Highway!

      • Highway says:

Oh, I wasn’t saying anything bad about the plot. I’m liking the focus on Momo, because she is not a brainless twit. And while I’m not a big fan of Nana or Mea at this point, I can see where they’re going with Yami.

        • Foshizzel says:

fufuu no problem and yes! Momo is the best character in Darkness and she clearly knows what Rito wants xD

Yeah Nana and Mea have a bit of stuff between them later on, but I have no idea if they will reach it in time before the end of this series! Hopefully something happens.

Yeah the reveal with Yami later on is kind of interesting xD

Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo: This show has something. The first episode was good, and enjoyable, but still left questions, like “will Shiina’s helplessness be too overwhelming”. She gets a little better in the second episode, but the show sure got a LOT better. I was left with that feeling that this show could really be something special, a lot like I felt about KoiChoco last season (which WAS really special, although kind of misstepped at the end a little bit). There wasn’t any particular “blow-your-mind” aspect to this episode, it was just this feeling that the characters are coming to life, that there’s more going on, and they’re going to let us see it. The interplay between Misaki and Jin was excellent, and it was good to see that Misaki was going after Jin as well as Sorata, and that both of them are not going to give in to her, even though Jin apparently gives it to a different girl every night. It really put Jin and Misaki’s relationship on a good level, that they’re great friends, great colleagues, and that he seems to have far more respect for her than the average girl.

You do feel kind of sorry for Nanami, because you know she’s going to get left behind. You felt it in the first episode, when Sorata seemed to realize that he was just saying he wanted to leave Sakurasou because that’s what Nanami and whoever his guy friend is wanted to hear. He doesn’t really want out of that “madhouse” and now with the introduction of Shiina, he’s not going anywhere.

I know it’s too early for comparisons to a great show like ToraDora!, but it’s not too early to hope.

I’m a long time restaurant worker. I’ve waited tables, and am working to sous chef position at a local fresh/local produce restaurant. I make whipped cream from confectioners sugar, vanilla extract (the good stuff with vanilla bean pods soaking in premium vodka) and heavy cream.

    Heeeeaaaaaavy Cream.

  5. skylion says:

OniAi: I want to slap everyone upside the head hardcore. Only then will I invite them all to a Jello-shots/Naked Twister Social. This show seemed so very retred from the get-go. Some subtly on Akiko’s part would have made it better. I realize her character is all about the Let’s Get It On, but girl, the direct approach isn’t what makes this man tick. But then, this man looks to be be a lying man by the second episode.

Cat Pet House with Cherry Blossoms. I love this show. Interesting. Look at /r/anime or /a/ and you will find all manner of horrible things. But the MC of this show has a great deal of dignity. He doesn’t take advantage, but displays all the tell-tale signs of a teen-ager way out of his depth. I hear this is a two-cour J.C. anime. Do this right, gentlemen.

To Love Yami/Mikan. This is the only way I will accept this show. OK, you got me To Love Yami/Mikan/Momo/Nana. Cause the VA’s? They be bringin’ the MOE OVERLOAD!

    • Foshizzel says:

OniAi: Akiko is awesome! I love how out in the open she is, but I don’t think she will EVER get far with her brother because he has shown 0 interest in her and I think that is why she kills me every week! Much like Kuroko’s love for Misaka in Railgun? Even though that relationship is more violent…2nd episode though OH MY GOD I couldn’t stop laughing xD

To Love: Ahh yeah you will love the interaction between Yami and Mikan later on skyklion, but right now they are just two best friends who want to spend more time together! Yeah the voice cast is very impressive…lots and lots of moe girls <3

  6. belatkuro says:

OniAi: Yellow is the best but Red takes a close second. The imouto is on a completely different level so she doesn’t count but she’s still awesome.
And who cares about why they got separated for how many years and got back again, why they live in the same dorm and why the SC members are in love with the MC. I’m watching this for the incest and the harem and the service and the misunderstandings. So yeah.

    Did I mention I love their mouths that go ( – A – )

Sakurasou: This is probably my favorite show this season. I loved both episodes. It has a nice balance of comedy, service and plot. Plus PLOT.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu seems to be born to do Sorata’s role as a tsukkomi. The timing and enthusiasm of the acting is just perfect.
And I really like Nanami, especially when she lapsed into Kansai-ben. But sadly the rules say she’s gonna lose. Shiina is quite adorable even if she’s not doing much.
And that birthday present. Why didn’t I get something like that last month?!

JC Staff is on a roll this season, with all their shows doing so well. And they’re all 2-cour. Hope this continues.

TLRD: Yeah, the holy light is getting annoying as well as shadow-kun but otherwise it’s going smoothly. I haven’t watched the first two seasons but I finished the original manga and reading Darkness too. Let’s see how this goes.

Mea really reminds me of Suoh from DtB2. Sad that KanaHana isn’t the one voicing her since she’s doing Mikan already.

    • Foshizzel says:

OniAi: Oh god I love listening to the main sister go off on her mental adventures about her brother! While I know she will never get with him EVER it still makes me laugh at her hilarious reaction after being denied xD

I love the character designs! Their mouths look strange but I can roll with it lol.

TLRD: Yeah…unfortunately we will HAVE to wait for the BD before we can see anything without sunbeam-chan and Shadow-kun! The first two seasons are kind of weak because they only have the whole “lala’s invention screws up” thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER again, but I still enjoyed them for a few laughs.

Yep! The voice talent is AWESOME and surprising to see them in such a low hit series, but ah well I like it ;D

      It never disappears. Rest assured!

Guess I panicked too early. It didn’t appear immediately when I submitted it. This happens quite often when I comment here.
        Thanks, appreciate it.

  8. BlackBriar says:

You guys have just increased my anime list this season. As if it wasn’t big enough already.

Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne: I felt the incest the moment Akito and Akiko met each other in the first episode. It’s a lot fiercer in this than Who is Imouto. Akiko sure is a piece of work. Knowing her love is top class taboo and still she tries to get in her brother’s pants. The sexual innuendo was glorious.

My favorite girl here is Arashi. She’s the sexiest of all the girls and I like the effect she has on Akito. I wonder if the eye patch is just an accessory. There’s a total atmosphere of femdom coming from her. Gin is dead last on my list. She’s too bland for my taste and needs a lot of development to save her. Even Anastasia surpasses her and she’s the typical emotionless type. My list goes like this: Arashi, Akiko, Anastasia and Gin.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo: This was pure fun to watch. If Sakurasou is a loony bin, then I wouldn’t mind claiming insanity if it gets me there. I’d never get a single day of boredom because it would be eventful all the time. I’m not sure at the moment but I think Shiina and Eucliwood Hellscythe have the same seiyuu. That quiet voice of hers is really unique. It’s surprising Misaki still has Jin in high regard even though he’s serial dating every girl in his path, even a married woman. Whoa, slow your roll, man. For a player, he’s a cool dude which is a good thing cause usually, types like that are unbearably arrogant and over the top.

To LOVE Ru Darkness: Another fun anime but it’s too bad the censors keep ruining the most of it. The OVA was a lot better because there were no interruptions. Momo is quite ambitious when it comes to perversion.

    • Highway says:

Shiina’s seiyuu is Ai Kayano, who has been in tons of stuff lately BUT not Kore wa Zombie. Other leading roles you might recognize: Muginami, Mayaka Ibara, Saori Takebe (Girls und Panzer), Mei Tachibana (Sukitte ii na yo)…

    • Highway says:

Also, I agree, Gin is far too bland, and the ‘longterm friend’ thing was almost too subtle to pick up. I feel like Arashi is too brash, and Anastasia is too tsun. All of the girls in that show are just “too ‘x'”, trope turned up to 11. It almost makes it tiring to watch.

And who knows how Misaki thinks. She might just go after any guy she knows, and just doesn’t know that many. Or she might just be the kind of person who really wants to love all the guys she knows. As for Jin, I wouldn’t say he’s “dating” any of those other women, and I wonder, given how nice he seems to be, if he’s just spending time until he finds the person that he really wants to be with, and knows that.

    • Foshizzel says:

To LOVE Ru Darkness: Yeah you are 100% right! The censors are terrible and the OVA was better, but ah well I kind of expected the tv series to have tons of shadows and light beams T____T

      Momo is the best!
