MetaVerse Episode 19: Blazing Red

Make way for the Aniblog Tourney Special of Team Red, Group five, for your listening pleasure~

Welcome to another episode of MetaVerse. We have some special guests this time around. Our very own Group Five competitors of Aniblog Tourney’s third round: Baka-Raptor, Avvesione and @fkeroge from Ambivalnce or is it ambiguity? whom I hosted with Fosh. We thought, rather than ripping each other’s throats, let’s collaborate to discuss what we like the most: anime fandom. With five people joining from five different locations and four countries, the recording was not at its best but Jrow made do with his cool editing skills. So, enjoy the listen with diversified views.

  1. Jrow says:

I gotta check out Touch and Spice and Wolf. Both sound really good.

    • Foshizzel says:

Spice and Wolf is awesome and very addictive xD

    • Overcooled says:

WATCH SPICE AND WOLF. It’s one of the only romance series that I absolutely adore…and you know what that means coming from me.

  2. Baka-Raptor says:

Two episodes into Gintama. So far so good.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Awesome! Have fun with Gintama!

    • Kyokai says:

Just a tip. The first 2 episodes are very random and not at par with Gintama-class of trashy lulz. If I remember correctly, third episode is how the actual manga started and it gets addictive with each episode. Also, lots of third-wall breaking and troll episodes too.

  3. Rakkyo says:

Had to crank up my volume everytime @fkeroge talks XD

Seems like I’ll be checking out Gintama and Hellsing Ultimate. I’ve been planning to start Gintama for quite some time now, but the sheer amount of episodes are kinda intimidating.

I never watched ZETMAN but damn that OP is awesome.

    • @fkeroge says:

My mic at the time wasn’t the best one I had… sorry about that.

    • Kyokai says:

For Gintama, do as I am doing. Slowly watching and enjoying. You can’t really marathon it non-stop because you will hurt your stomach very badly – by LAUGHING TOO MUCH.

For Ultimate, you can wait for the 10th OVA to release soon and marathon the hell out of it. And dots is too damn addictive for its own good!

  4. SPIRAL says:

And the magic adventure begins again.

    @fkeroge was really soft. I actually thought my headphones suddenly and stopped the Podcast til I realised twenty minutes later that it could be because of a soft mic -_-;;

    • SPIRAL says:

Sorry I have to comment again just to see what title I’m given with 36 comments.

      • Jrow says:

I think I stifled his voice a bit too much. Had I not, it would’ve sound like a guy that was way too close to his mic talking at a high volume.

  5. SPIRAL says:

    Novice? FUUUUUUUUU

  6. SPIRAL says:

    Kouji Seo is a genius.

  7. BlackBriar says:

What was that rock intro at the beginning? It’s different from your usual style of opening a podcast.

An idea for a blog while being in the shower? Nice. We all get ideas in the most strangest of places. Kudos to Baka-Raptor for carrying on his blog single-handedly these 6 years. It must have been tiresome at times.

Like Rakkyo, I had to turn up my volume everytime @fkeroge talks. It was a bit hard to understand.

One of the series currently getting mixed reactions (mostly getting bashed) is Phi Brain. Some love it, some hate it, others accept it but personally, it’s just one of those under the radar shows that’s fun to watch despite the ratings and being compared to popular animes like Ao no Exorcist or Fate Zero. You get something that seemed ridiculous at the start and over time, it begins to grow on you and becomes awesome. Not to mention the puzzles there every episode that looks like it’s only designed to scramble not just the character’s head but also the viewers. And the characters are a plus despite some of them being world class traps, arrogant bastards, stalkers and possible homocidal psychopaths.

I never watched Zetman and thanks to Overcooled’s opinion on the subject, I’m glad I never laid eyes on it. I wasn’t impressed with the summary from the start.

@Kyokai: High five for Hellsing!! I bet you knew I’d eventually catch that bit of information, huh? LOL. It’s too bad you have to wait so long in between each episode. Show ▼

Jōji Nakata does great as Alucard but you’ve got to admit, Crispin Freeman is equally, if not even scarier as his english dub counterpart.

    • Jrow says:

What was that rock intro at the beginning? It’s different from your usual style of opening a podcast.

      …are you joking?

    • Foshizzel says:

      Hell ya Puzzel time! <3

Crispin Freeman hell ya! I have to watch every dub he stars in and he does a lot with DC comics it seems...just like Steve Blum's voice work for video games and marvel stuffs! Oh and Tom from Toonami is back on adult swim <3

      • BlackBriar says:

Yeah, Crispin Freeman rocks. I know he’s currently voicing the DC comic character Red Arrow in Young Justice. Steve Blum has an impressive number of roles. One of my favorites is Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy VII. Just like Crispin Freeman, he’s branching out in mainstream stuff. I know him as Vilgax, Heatblast and Ghostfreak in the original Ben 10 cartoon and in Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Legend of Korra, sequel to The Last Airbender, he plays the main antagonist Amon, a villain capable of permanantly sealing a bender’s power.

        • Foshizzel says:

Ahhhh yes! Crispin Freeman does voice red arrow on Young Justice now I remember ahahah nice!

YES! Steve Blum is seriously all over the place from anime, video games and even commercials! I always liked him as Spike in Bebop and Tom from toonami of course, but yeah also voices in Ben 10 and now with the main bad dude in the new Avatar? Hooraay!

    • Kyokai says:

The intro was Baka-raptor’s choice: “Satsugai” by Detroit Metal City from Detroit Metal City.

And high-five back because Hellsing Ultimate needs MOAR LOVE! It’s such a great series and has really grown on me with its dangerous characters and dark theme. This is how vampires should be scary rather than bishies (though Alucard was pretty bishie when he was young or tries to be normal whenever). Show ▼

Btw, I should definitely check out at least one episode of dub version as you both are insisting on it!

PS: He plays Amon?! (I love that guy’s voice) Definitely checking the dub now.

      • Foshizzel says:

OH YEAH! Walter is a badass <3

Steve blum voices Amon in Korra yes! Crispin Freeman voices a great Alucard in Hellsing series and the first three or four for Ultimate, but those might be hard to find so here you go and here.

  8. Moni Chan says:

I love how Kyokai san calls Baka-Raptor as just “baka”. Until he corrects her :p

  9. anaaga says:

I am sorry Kyo for not following Metaverse.

Oh god Baka-Raptor’s voice is so sexy. afk sounds like an uke

    • Kyokai says:

Your trip to dungeon can be postponed by downloading the previous 18. 😉

Also, oh man, @fk is going to hentai you.

    • @fkeroge says:

      I sound like… an uke? I can’t pretend I didn’t see that, lol. I’m a true blue, yuri-loving, heterosexual man.
