Haiyore Nyaruko-san – 03

Nyaruko-“You want to do what with me? Oh my…I don’t think I’m ready.”

UH NYA! That line always makes me freaking laugh from the opening! Seriously why is it so damn addictive? I guess the lyrics are so catchy… Anyway things are continuing right along with this crazy ass comedy and I love every moment! What about you out there in the internets!? Enough rambling from me let us get down to business with Nyaruko-san shall we?

Plot this week has poolside fun with Kuko and Nyaruko’s older brother shows up.

Nyaro-“It is time to go on a little sister hunt…FOR BLOOD!”

You heard me correctly, this is a half pool themed episode and the other half revolves around the introduction of Nyaruko’s brother. We start this episode off with her brother laughing like a madman while covered in lots of blood, but who are those dead people lying on the ground?! I really have no idea! Maybe they were laughing at his Egyptian clothes and he killed them for it? After that we follow Nyaruko messing around with Mahiro’s mind and by messing I mean starting to call him nii-nii. I wonder if that line was a parody of Miya from Amagami SS?

Mahiro’s love is so far away! Do your best Nyaruko.

Nyaruko-“How dare you act cute around me, Shanka-kun!?”

Before Nyauko can take the brother comments any further, Mahiro ditches her and runs to school where they meet the next “mysterious transfer student” Kuko; so why is that redhead girl hanging around the school? It turns out she was given orders to help Nyaruko on a special mission, but half of her time is spent groping and touching the crawling darkness for more random yuri. While the girls feel each other out, Nyaruko’s brother arrives on earth with one goal in mind, to hunt down his sister! Unfortunately he gets mistaken as a peeping Tom my some random people and the local police starts to chase after him. However, these cops are really dumb so he manages to escape and arrives at the school. There, he sends a few monsters to attack Nyaruko, Kuko and Mahiro on the roof during their lunch.

Kuko-“My darling, give me a morning kiss!”   Nyaruko-“Help…me…”   Mahiro-“This is so hot…”

Kuko-“Damn, check out that backstory and that deep plot…It really is WONDERFUL!”

Kuko-“Tsundere with Twin-tails?! DO WANT!”       Nyaruko-“STOP TOUCHING ME!”

FIGHT-O!

Nyaruko-“GRRRR WHY DO I HAVE TO FEED YOU!?

Naturally Nyaruko and Kuko beat the monsters and save the day! However, Mahiro got injured during the short battle forcing him to crash in the nurses office, but he retreats just in time because Nyaruko has a few ecchi ideas in mind like *cough* rape *cough*. Thankfully, Kuko was around to throw her off his trail, but we all know Mahiro can’t hide from Nyaruko forever. After the school fun, Nyaruko’s brother arrives to challenge his sister and she runs him over with her Shanta-car. Yeah her pokemon themed monster literary doubles as a freaking motorcycle! The episode ends afterwards with Nyaruko and Kuko receiving orders to stay on earth and Mahiro’s mother is on the way home… You better hide those two aliens, fast bro.

Nyaruko-“You are so jelly of my ride aren’t you!?”   Mahiro-“Wait I did not agree to ride with you!”

Mahiro-“Where did you learn to drive!?”      Nyaruko-“Hours and hours of playing GTA, DUUH!”

Mahiro-“I wonder if my mom will buy the whole surprise sibling trick…”

Extra laughs

Nyaruko-“Mahiro…I am ready for some close encounters…”

OMGHnnnnggggggg.jpeg

Talking in third person is perfectly normal…right?

I think Nyaruko wants a return policy on this gift.

Kuko swaying forever and ever.

Hooray! Another hilarious episode of Haiyore this week, but of course this was half pool themed episode which opened the doors for Kuko to have her attempt at yuri time with Nyaruko. Though, it had plenty of high levels of fan-service this week with a few shots of Nyaruko in her swimsuit thanks to Kuko’s yuri goggles and her perverted brain… So, I guess those parts weren’t so bad. Anyone else notice how Nyaruko suddenly turned on her tsundere mode when she swapped her normal hairstyle to twin tails?! I swear her character personality switched roles before entering the pool. I guess when you have to deal with someone like Kuko on a daily basis like Nyaruko I can see why you have to act more aggressive towards your stalker.

What else? Ah yes! The introduction to Nyaruko’s brother Nyaro; I had to look it up on ANN because MAL doesn’t have him listed. After watching him run around, I started to think of him as a clone of Zastin from the To-Love-Ru series even though he isn’t a brother but Lala’s bodyguard instead. Those two characters share a lot in common; as in always getting hurt in some strange way or generally becoming the gag character. So, that was interesting to learn! Also I hope we learn more about that character because I have to know why he hates his sister so much and who were those random guys he killed? And then they threw in the whole dreamland thing at us! It sounds like the name says a world of dreams to me.

Overall great laughs this week! And a few references with that crazy chainsaw. I will take a guess and say that was from the Evil Dead movie series? Nyaruko did say something about “CQC movie edition” if not then let me know! What else? Oh right the giant shot of Nyaruko’s face, I have seen that image meme before and I’m sure the nii-nii comments have to be a shout out from Miya of Amagami SS! If not, then I have no clue… Other than those references, I look forward to more! Next week the cast grows by one more with the introduction of the “trap” character, Hastur voiced by Rei Kugimiya.

Preview

Hastur-“Hey mister! Can I be your little brother?”     Mahiro-“Must…resist…urge…to…hug…him…or…her…”

Prepare for Mahiro’s mother and Hastur next episode.

Nice!!! Another hilarious episode has come. Shame on me that I almost passed this up. Nyaruko is a masochist pervert. I’d ship her with Issei Hyoudo in a heartbeat. Hold it, Nyaruko said “my darling” and pulled out a chainsaw. Has she been watching Kore wa Zombie: Of the Dead along with us? And I guess she’s taking advice from Mouretsu Pirates’s Gruier to adopt the Sailor Moon look for the pool.

We’re in a new season but the yuri flames have yet to die out on us. Kuko’s yuri goggles may be stronger than all of ours combined. “Let’s get married and have lots of babies” She is a riot, especially in a pass the torch situation. She is to Nyaruko what Nyaruko is to Mahiro. They both want what they can’t have and it’s fun to watch.

And her brother Nyaro, whatever is going on between them is probably nothing more than a bitter sibling relationship. How bad could it be that he’s out to kill her? And it doesn’t look good on her end either seeing how she gleefully sent him flying. The smirk on her face was perfect.

I’m with you! I dropped it after the first episode, but decided to give it another try a while later. The OP has really grown on me ^^

      • Rakuen says:

I enjoyed it more after a few bloggers pointed out just how into her role Kana Asumi is. It’s still not quite my cup of tea, but I can stand to drink it.

      • Foshizzel says:

@Akagami- Agreed that is one addictive opening!

@Rakuen- Yeah I can see why people might avoid this unique series because they either

A: Hate Miya from Amagami SS
B: Dislike hyper active main lead characters
C: Not a fan of comedy that uses references or gags every 10mins? xD

        • Rakuen says:

A isn’t applicable, I’m actually a fan of C, and I don’t mind B as long as the character isn’t on bleedin’ crack. I just don’t find this particular series particularly amusing. It actually is more the references keeping me in this one, because there’s a lot of them and they’re worked in pretty well.

          • Foshizzel says:

Ahaha yeah I do enjoy all the references each week almost like Nyaruko is a huge anime scavenger hunt? I think that works! It is more fun watching it with others vs solo I watch it with my brother on monday night and then friday over skype with a few bloggers xD

Yeah A probably doesn’t fit so well ahahaha

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahahah yeah great episode this week and I loved that whole chainsaw scene was awesome! Agreed Nyaruko has been watching lots of Kore wa zombie I bet.

Kuko loves Nyaruko so much and wow that baby comment made me laugh so much and agreed she is a riot all the time.

Right I want to learn more about Nyaruko’s brother after this episode, but I can tell there is some huge beef between them maybe their father favors the daughter more than the son? LOL

      • skylion says:

Eh? You learned everything you need to know about him. She got the brains, the looks, the charm, and the Kuku. He got nothing. Well, he got ownzed.

        • BlackBriar says:

True. Nyaruko does look more like the privilidged one and I guess that makes the brother the black sheep of the family. With all that’s happened to him on his quest to find his sister, it’s a safe bet he’s destined for misfortune.

      • BlackBriar says:

I watched the episode again and I found more references. Here’s the following:
“Full Metal Alchemist” reference… (Equivalent Exchange)
“Kamen Rider Decade” reference… (Form Ride)
“Kore wa Zombie desu ka” reference… (My Darling/Chainsaw)
“Lupin the Third” reference… (Mata tsumaran mono kit’te shimat’ta / I’ve cut down something useless again)
“Sailor Moon/Mouretsu Pirates” reference (Nyaruko’s hairdo in the pool)

Nyaruko is just as funny with Kuko as she is with Mahiro even though with Mahiro, she’ll be on the receiving end of the abuse. Nyaruko x Kuko FTW!!! The continuous marriage and baby comment had me laughing as well. Let’s not forget “Today’s a safe day“, “I decided you would be my first, Nyaruko” and last but least “Nyaruko, be gentle“. I’ll keep watching and patiently wait and hope for the line “Two girls can’t make babies!!” to come along. And Fosh, maybe you haven’t realized yet but doesn’t Kuko seem like a more extreme version of Index and Railgun’s Kuroko? They have the same obsession but Kuko takes hers to another level.

I noticed Kuko used Mahiro’s last name “Yasaka” as her own when she was presenting herself as a transfer student. I’ve also noticed something disturbing. When Nyaro sent his monsters on the rooftop for a fight, Nyaruko and Kuko pulled their weapons from under their skirts. That’s freaky. I’m sorry but is there some kind of weapons portal under there? What else can they pull from under there?!

        • Foshizzel says:

lolol yeah I noticed that too Kuko is basically a demonic version of Kuroko! Extreme onii-sama <3

Yeah chainsaws and funnel weapons xD

        • skylion says:

What else? They span the eons, those two dreaded wonders. In the time one of them takes to blink, entire civilizations are born, live out their fruitless existence, and curse the gods to see all the triumphs fall to nothingness.

          What else he asks….

  2. There are more reference than you think *_*
The meme came from Ichigo Marshmallow
    Nisemonogatari
    This pic from Firemanhere
    This girls
    Deathnote
    Castle in the Sky
    Kamen Rider Decade
    Kamen Rider Decade again
    Lupin III
    and many more

    • Foshizzel says:

I saw and good lord why are there so many!? Thanks for sharing though <3

      • Myssa Rei says:

Some people have come to see Nyaruko as some sort of geek test. If you can even spot HALF of the listed references, you’ve got some cred.

        • BlackBriar says:

Ah, I see. So this is the ultimate geek test of “Can you spot that reference”. So far, each episode has an alarming number of them. Some of which I wouldn’t even realize at all unless someone else pointed them out. I’ll give it props to the fact that even though it’s an anime that’s utterly silly with the plot, it certainly has your brain going.

        • Foshizzel says:

hahahah yeah great mini game xD

    • skylion says:

Myssa Rei rolls Library Use: 01

      Aced!

  3. Rakuen says:

Nyaruko’s pet referenced Pokemon in the first episode, now I think it’s referencing the other big -mon series. Digimon who used extreme amounts of energy were forced to devolve into a weaker (and usually cuter) form for a while. 🙂

    • Foshizzel says:

Ohhhhhh yes I think you are onto something there Rakuen her pet does seem to be more of a digimon and less of a pokemon…good thing Shanta-kun is unable to speak English! LOL

  4. skylion says:

Imhotep, from the Mummy movies, dude. It’s Egyptian. Mild reference, yes, but Nyarlothotep also has The Dark or Black Pharaoh as an identity.

This episode was heavy on them there Kamen Rider jokes, so I was just giggling mildly at the antics. And Hnnnnnnging over Kuku’s obsession.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Right! Mummy movies!

I know right? There were a lot of Kamen Rider jokes and Kuko gave me lots of Hnngggg reactions <3

      • skylion says:

You fancy kid’s with your swinging modern references. At least I got old school Lovecraft antiquarianism.

Good fortune that Kuku speaks the universal yuri language.

  5. lvlln says:

Kana Asumi just makes this show. She displays an incredible amount of energy, and I can’t help but get sucked in. A pretty run of the mill premise and unremarkable story made great by a single top notch performance.

That episode ending had me in stitches. “I’ll be home in 40 seconds.” I love the crazy and crazy-precise timescales we see in fiction. Not a lot of time for Mahiro to prepare, hope he’s a fast thinker!

    • Foshizzel says:

True that I really enjoy listening to Kana Asumi every time even though she spends 90% of the time rambling on and on about anything and everything…she does give off lots of high energy as Nyaruko.

LOL Yeah I can’t wait to see how Mahiro deals with his mom and Nyaruko, Kuko and the next character introduction.

      • skylion says:

Since they are milking every single convention down to the last drop, Mother is probably going to be….let’s see. Very accepting. Happy her son is growing up. Encourages him to pursue both girls ::hnnnnnnngggg:: And with luck, a furo episode for Mom, Cthuku, and Nyaruku.

        • Foshizzel says:

Right Mahiro’s mom is probably going to be like MY SON! HE LIKES GIRLS!? THANK GOD! And she will accept Nyaruko and Kuko as her new “children” but yeah I have a feeling his mom will totally be fine with two random girls staying with them.

LOL Yep! Start the bath scenes in 3…2…1….ACTION!
