Amagami SS+ – 02

He’ll wanna move into the shed if he keeps getting this kind of action

Hey cool kids. I’ve been playing Katawa Shoujo recently, my first ever VN. Makes me want to play all these other ones like Steins;Gate, Fate/Stay Night, Majikoi and… Amagami! While I need to get back on Windows in order to do this, let’s see how the second episode of Ayatsuji+ plays out!

Ayatsuji catches them just before the kiss and she grabs Junichi by the tie, dragging him off to the shed. Our main guy does get a kiss just so he’ll settle down. Junichi must be really dumb because he can’t figure out why Kurosawa would do what she did. His better half knows better and makes Junichi declare that there’s no other woman he’d kissed than her.

Really my favorite part of her + arc

Cmon, you should know the caption by now

Rihoko tries to take advantage of Junichi’s eventual VP prediction by trying to get the Tea Club some money. Ain’t happen’n girl. Poor Rihoko. She didn’t get Junichi in SS, and probably isn’t gonna be able to do much more in +. The Ayatsuji staff used Junichi’s idea of putting motivational messages on the sash. She loves the gift and will wear it during her speech. Uh… are the other kids in school actually interested in this stuff? I wish they’d cut to some other group of kids that go, “man, this is bullshit! I’m gonna go smoke a cigarette.”

Ayatsuji – “So… this is the gift?”

Pretend like I love it, Pretend like I love it… locate distant garbage can to toss in

Sae goes for the cute/shy approach, hoping the male vote will buy into her cuteness. I’m intrigued. Ayatsuji shows a bit of nervousness, but goes out there and knocks em dead. She promises shorter periods, earlier dismissal from school and better cafeteria food. Tears are shed, fists are pumped in the air! Kurosawa plays the bashing other candidates card; crowd is not really happy with her. Seiji campaigns that he will bring dance classes to school. Kids are way too nervous, so they might not vote his way. The results come in the next day, and…

They campaigned well, even if nobody was around for the guy’s speech

She wins! Ayatsuji wins the presidential election by a landslide. Inauguration day will be soon with partying and a concert by Rookiez is Punked. As VP, Junichi will get to throw out the first pitch at baseball games, sit in the announcers booth on an MNF game, and be the envy of all dudes as they know he is getting a little someth’n someth’n from the president of the school class. Miya, like any good politician, spins the loss in a positive way saying that the purpose was to cure Sae’s shyness, which is working. Kurosawa isn’t satisfied that she couldn’t steal Junichi away from her.

Sing it, Miya!

Though sometimes a doof, Junichi did some good stuff for Ayatsuji and she rewards him with no study period. Gee, thanks. An evil, human-eating dog blazes toward the two and Junichi must save his lady. The plan? Sacrifice himself so she can run away. It works, and he falls into the river which human-eating dogs do not jump in. He doesn’t realize that he’s put himself in a good spot…

That spot? Ayatsuji’s bathtub. While he’s chillin in the bath, she puts on her swimsuit and joins him. So excited, he shows her his penis and testicles. Too soon, bro. Luckily he just takes a slap to the face and Ayatsuji proceeds to wash his back. She reminds him to work hard so they both can attend university together, pushing her body against his in hopes of pushing him forward. The two kiss, and they likely talk in bed later about tomorrow’s budget meeting.

I’ll miss you, Ayatsuji:

Junichi – “I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours!”

Sunbeam-chan, she could’ve used your censorship there.

Jrow reaches at monitor to give hug

Quite a fluff episode to conclude the arc, really. The tension of the last episode was quickly settled down and it was all just smooth sailing for Ayatsuji from there. A montage sucks, and I’d prefer they show her speaking. I’ve liked Ayatsuji before, but this arc made me like her more. One of the benefits of the series is that short arcs allow for stories to finish and new characters be romanced, but for some girls, it’s tough to say goodbye. The other girls are fun and perky and I’d still vote Haruka as a personal favorite, but Ayatsuji is in my opinion the series’ best and most unique character. And as we saw in the first series, maybe the most challenging.

One thing I don’t really think we saw much of in SS (besides Ai’s scene in episode 16) is really good quality fanservice. I’m disappointed she didn’t completely commit to Junichi’s dream of wearing a towel. Maybe the eroge takes it much further. Must play eroge now… but oh yeah, thoughts to finish. The scene in the shed was probably my favorite. Great kiss scene, a little bit of a blush from Ayatsuji, and Junichi begging for just a bit more.

While it’s tough to say goodbye to Ayatsuji, it’ll be even tougher for me to say hello to Rihoko. A girl’s gotta really mess some stuff up to be friendzoned, and that’s what she did in SS. I wonder if her arc will be told from her perspective or Junichi’s. Rihoko’s arc was my least favorite in the first series, so I will hope the newly-elected VP is followed more than the Tea Club lady.

I don’t want Rihoko to be friendzoned, please let them fall in love!

    • Jrow says:

Hopefully she says the right things to get to that point. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of it.

Oh such a nice ending to this arc! Such tender kawaii moments >w<. Though I actually really am excited for the next arc, cause I liked Rihoko's character in the first series, but though the arc was kind of lame. Hopefully the next one's better!

    • Jrow says:

It was a good ending. It felt like it flew by so quickly.

Cmon Rihoko, AIC studios is giving you a second shot at love!

Ayatsuji, win! I only expected a small story since the end of Ayatsuji’s arc in the first season showed the happy end they had after a few more years, and they delivered! Yes, I was disappoint they didn’t go for the complete towel scene too, but too much fan service would detract from this kind of story of romance, not beams of light 😀 Heh, Kurosawa, what chance did you have in snatching Junichi away from the grasp of Ayatsuji?
Ah, Rihoko; not the best arc, no, but it was bittersweet. I agree it might be a bit tedious but if I remember correctly, Rihoko never actually admitted her feelings. If she does it in her arc, I think we’ll all be satisfied 🙂

    • Jrow says:

Ayatsuji and Haruka’s arcs do have the “10 years later” or w/e ending, so we can assume Junichi wisened up and was able to go to university with her.

I hope for a happier ending for Rihoko, too. If that’s the case, it’d definitely be the most unique arc in + if she actually hooked up with him, unlike the others who are already dating him.

  4. Karakuri says:

Oh, so they’re only doing this in 2 episode arcs? How long is this anime supposed to be then, 12?

    • Jrow says:

Yeah to both points. Maybe they might add a dvd-only ep of the stalker girl and Miya like the first series did.

  5. lvlln says:

Keep in mind, Amagami isn’t actually an eroge. Just a dating sim, which is why it’s allowed on the PSP.

    • Jrow says:

Oh ok. Still wanna play it.

      *escapes mind*

    • The_Magus_Killer says:

Where can I get/buy/download this for the PSP? Also, does it have subtitles or are all in Japanese?

      • Karakuri says:

I could have sworn Amagami was for the PS2 Oh wait, there’s a PSP port. And yeah, it would be in Japanese.

        • The_Magus_Killer says:

Well, that at least gives me an incentive to brush up on my Japanese. Where can someone tell me where to get it? Is it available in other parts of Asia outside Japan?

  6. The_Magus_Killer says:

Oh yeah, please blog about Thermae Romae. It’s actually funny despite the animation style and music used. Those with a sense of Roman history will enjoy it. Oh, it’s also getting a 2012 Live-Action Movie.
