  1. BlackBriar says:

Awesome post as usual, Meta Cast. I take off my hat in respect to you guys. I’m definitely not bored this Fall season thanks to these great animes. As far as the long length animes that are past the 12 episode limit goes, I’m still following on my top 4: Guilty Crown, Mirai Nikki, Fate/Zero and Phi Brain. I’d have a migrane trying to pick a favorite.

The 12 episode shows that have surprised me and put a smile on my face are C³ and Ben-To. I wasn’t impressed with C³ at first because I thought it would just be another overrated harem anime that wouldn’t succeed though there are some exceptions. It actually turned out to be a bloodbath with insane characters where the male isn’t useless at all and actually has a personality and almost every girl in sight is a yandere.

Second surprise was Ben-To. Guys, seriously, check it out. It absolutely deserves your attention. The story is great despite is mainly about half priced luch boxes. The fights are awesome and the fight music at every battle is even more epic. Moreover, they’re not just fighting for food but for the sake of their pride. They’re rather go down fighting than just taking it easy and buying the food for full price.

My disappointments so far are Un-Go, Maken-Ki!! and Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!!. And I’m currently on the fence with Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and Persona 4: The Animation.

    • Jrow says:

      Thanks BB!

Totally in agreement about Ben-to! I really wasn’t sure what to think when we previewed it, but it’s turning out to be one of those shows I look forward to. All the girls are hot and all, but Satou is a great male lead.

Your main disappointments are right in line with mine, except that I figured Maken-Ki would be what it was. People say the manga is good, but I can’t muster up enough interest past waiting for Blu-rays.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yes thanks BB! We love doing these podcasts they are so much fun and nice top four ahaha very nice I think those are great.

BenTO is hilarious! Agreed Jrow the girls look great and Satou always makes me laugh just wait till you reach episode five! OMG I laughed for a good 10minutes lolol. C3 is great fun as well and very surprising! I thought it was going to be nothing but a gag anime boy was I wrong after episode three it changed for me.

Yeah I don’t like Maji de watashi or Maken-Ki! But I am still watching mostly with my brother.

      • BlackBriar says:

Thanks, I support Metanorn as much as I can. Yeah, it makes me anxious week by week waiting for another episode to roll by, especially when the show’s really good. Not to mention they’re gonna help me burn through this season all the way to winter.

Yeah, I downloaded and watched episode 5 of Ben-To today. I laughed big time. Oshiroi, Ume’s love interest, is a perverted BL loving freak and writer just like that equally perverted writer Nakuru from Mayo Chiki. She was completely drooling when she saw Sato in that girls uniform.

That sickly girl with the raccoon hat, Asebi, is the human version of a black cat. Misfortune befalls those she touches. I love the music of the entire show. Especially when the Monarch showed up. I can’t wait to get the soundtrack.

        • Foshizzel says:

Soon we will have our Fall wrap up! Well for “some” of these popular shows! I researched a bit and found a few that are getting 24 episodes, but some are the less popular.

Ben-TO! God I love that so much, I have been watching it with friends over Skype and we die laughing every time! I have no idea but there is something funny about it.

Ahahah Raccoon girl! I loved that soda scene it was pure WTF is she doing?! Yes OST DO WANT PLEASE!

  2. Samantha Zan says:

YEAH UNCHARTED 3 FOR THE WIN!!!!!! 100% Agreed with Jrow xD.

With Gulity Crown (just want to mention DX), yeah it did remind me of Code Geass…when my friend told me that 0-0. I honestly didn’t think about it till then. But I still think first episode had AMAZING animation and with KICKASS music, but still pretty bad for me :/. Plotwise, meh its a little bit off with me. Still gonna watch it, but still have low expectations with it. I also like that EVA feel with the mechas too :3

I would rant on more, but then this comment would get too long xD. But awesome MetaVerse once again! Love all the punny/funny jokes you guys made with the animes x3 (PORTAL THE ANIME 8D)

    • Jrow says:

I’ve beaten Uncharted 3 and I really like it! I have yet to tackle multiplayer stuff, however…

Now that we’re 4 episodes into Guilty Crown, I’m right where I want to be with the show… giddy and fanboying! Ep 4 was kind of like episode 1, but with better story setup and the like. And the mechas are awesome too that you see in ep 4.

Portal the anime kind of caught me off-guard. Fosh is a funny dude. xD

    • Foshizzel says:

Crown is great! I know there are so many haters out there because it steals a lot from Code Geass but you know most anime out now is rarely “original” I mean a few of them are and a few borrow from several popular anime. Crown looks amazing! But the story is suffering I think ahaha but its cool even if the plot is mindless 😉

I want a portal anime…… Wooooot for video game anime! xD

@Jrow Thanks man! I try lololol

  3. Joojoobees says:

It really is a pretty good season, with a lot of strong shows, and a lot of shows that really aren’t too bad (and, yes, some garbage, too).

My fave this season is Chihayafuru. Those who know know why; those who don’t are missing out.

I wouldn’t be as harsh on Un-go as you guys were, but it is a pretty strange show. I’m not quite sure what they are trying to do with it yet, but I find it intriguing (and a great ED).

Phi Brain and Bento are both goofy fun. I love the ridiculousness of the premises.

Tamayura is really classic slice of life. There is a lot of attention paid to the setting, and we see people doing things like participating in the bamboo festival.

    Peace out!

    • Jrow says:

I’m impressed and appreciative of how quick people listen to the show. That’s really cool of you all. Also hope the background music wasn’t too distracting, what with vocals and all.

Un-Go is weird for me, and I don’t know if I’m in the right mindset to watch it each week after being critical of the first 3 episodes. It’s a detective show that isn’t good, but it didn’t show me something that was like, “oh, that’s really interesting. I want to know more.” Too harsh? Perhaps, but we’ll see how reception is by December when it ends.

Still gotta get on Chihayafuru. It’s gonna be 2 cour and I don’t wanna fall too far behind.

      • Joojoobees says:

The thing is, I’m not sure Un-go IS a mystery show. I agree that it will be clearer what it is at the end of December.

BTW, I forgot to say, re: Hunter X Hunter, Leorio has a character design that looks a lot like Vash from Trigun (Face, glasses, and spiky hair), but the suit and dark hair is more like Wolfwood from Trigun, so he definitely looks like he came from Trigun, but a bit of a combination.

        • Foshizzel says:

Lolol ya Hunter X Hunter! Leorio is amazing and does look like Vash! Yeah more like a combo of Vash and Wolfwood xD

    • Foshizzel says:

Ooooh yes there are lots of amazing shows and several just meeehhh shows that don’t excite most like Guilty Crown! At first people were in love with it until it actually came out..Ah well that’s how it goes sometimes.

ChihayaFuru! I have to watch more I stopped at episode two xD

YES!! Bento and Phi Brain are goofy as hell but in a fantastic way <3

  4. Sabine says:

I found myself following 13 different series this time because I can´t choose which ones to drop. xD So, a Really good Fall season, I´m so happy there are those over 20 episodes long series, because they have been missed! So, really many good series, waiting patiently for a new episode to almost everyone of them and I watch everyday the newest when they come.
Great, first time I can keep up watching so many, I´m making history with myself! xD

    • Kyokai says:

Ahahahaaa, good to know you are increasing your anime addiction. More the merrier! xD

    • Foshizzel says:

Welcome to my life! I always follow more anime every year seems I am branching out and trying new things like Kimi to Boku and season two of Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi! So I am trying a few things here and there xD

    • BlackBriar says:

Join the club. There’s a bunch of shows here I thought I’d never be watching. Now I find myself a bit overloaded. Everytime there’s a new episode, I download right away.

I didn’t even consider I’d be hooked on Ben-To, Mirai Nikki, Fate/Zero and C³ because at first, I was only itching to see Guilty Crown for Fall season.

  5. kidd says:

LoL, I find it really funny that Kyoukai likes Kimi To Boku and hates K-on!

I’m a guy and I really like Kimi To Boku its just so cute and the addition of the Loli Tsundere was just icing on the cake.

On BokuTomo I just wanna add that I really like how the show is a harem but is not following all the harem-like-tropes. The girls ar all designed to look super Hot and Moe its a fanboys dream come true.

    good podcast guys.

    • Kyokai says:

Thanks! And I might actually give K-On!! another try after I’m done with the first season of Kimi to Boku.

    • Ness says:

      Thanks

Well, there’s a difference in that Kimi to Boku has the guys in it XD And we all know that Kyo likes those bishies mmm :3

    • Foshizzel says:

Lolol well guys > girls for Kyokai right? xD

Same I don’t mind Kimi to Boku there is something refreshing about it and I can not figure it out! Sure I enjoy K-On!! But that is more about finding a certain character to follow

Thanks! We love making them xD

      • Overcooled says:

        I really didn’t like Kimi to Boku but I really like K-ON! And I’m a girl :/

        • Kyokai says:

Ness and Fosh know me so well. xD

OC, are you comparing the first episode’s pacing to the rest of the series?

          • Overcooled says:

I saw one episode and if I try another, I will certainly keel over from boredom. Even if it gets better, I can’t survive that long, I’m sorry D:

            • Toori-chan says:

Awwh… OC do continue. The boredom goes away when Chizuru comes in. You just need to hold on till then. Well, still I can’t force you to like it but it’s nice and it gets random sometimes.

  6. Bob from Accounting says:

Having ragequit Hunter X Hunter, I found it interesting that the opinions here seemed largely positive. I guess having a neutral standpoint makes that show a lot better (taking it on its own merits and all that)? How unfortunate that I’m incapable of forgiving its crimes.

Chihayafuru was an unexpected hit for me. I hadn’t heard anything about it prior to the season’s beginning but I randomly watched it and managed to get instantly hooked. And I totally agree that Crusader’s mad tsundere coverage of it is hilarious!

Other than that, the only other show I’m watching is Future Diary, because, you know, YANDERE.

    • Foshizzel says:

At first I thought Hunter X Hunter would be a boring and dull show, but after giving it a few episodes I sort of like it even thou it fails in some spots.

Chihayafuru! I need to get around to watching…maybe ill do that on a non update day?

Hell ya! Yandere all the way <3

    • Jrow says:

I’ve had One Piece as my only shounen show for quite a long time, and HxH is breaking through as a rare second series of its kind. I suppose that lack of knowledge of the first series is helping, but I’m really loving all 4 of the main characters.

      • Bob from Accounting says:

I think it’s probably mainly lack of knowledge about the manga that’s helping. But it was just all over for me when they neutered Paedoclown’s Establishing Character Massacre. So I’ve only got two Autumn shows now… somebody toss a recommendation at me?

        • Kyokai says:

You can always try Fate/Zero because it’s such an ear and eyegasm. You don’t have to watch Fate/stay night to enjoy it at all (even when it has anime;s first CG dragons! Lol).

  7. Moni Chan says:

    episode 11, that was fast.

ohhh the fall season anime it hasn’t let me down yet.

  8. Much thanks and love for the shoutout ^^

  9. xochandaox says:

Lol I got all excited when you all started talking about Chihayafuru.

Oh and I decieded to give Kimi to boku, and Last exile a try 😀

KYAA Yunoooo <3 yes yes I love it when yall talk about her creepiness.

    • Foshizzel says:

Ahaha having not seen Chihayafuru I was just poking fun <3 <3 I shall watch soooonish

Kimi to Boku! Actually funny for me, it's strange it reminds me so much of Yuru Yuri! Sure it has some borderline BL tones but much like Yuru yuri. With Kimi to boku they blend comedy elements in quite nicely to keep me watching every week! So ya why not.

YUNO!! She will be every guy's creepy waifu xD

    • Ness says:

Hahah yeah Chihayafuru is actually pretty interesting and I recommend it to those slice of life lovers but not so as much to those who are looking for shounen sports.

Woo hope you enjoy Last Exile. So far it has me hooked. I’ll have the latest episode post out soon~

  10. T.K. says:

Wow, I never expected to be tagged in a shoutout, thanks Kyokai!

C3 and Ben-To seems to be the dark horses of this season, I’m keeping my eye out for these.

    • Foshizzel says:

      Yay!! Congratulations!

Yes those shows are crazy and fun! Well I am more into Ben-TO that series never takes itself seriously and that adds to the hilarious factor xDD

  11. Toori-chan says:

Fall is awesome this year. My watch list is 1.5x more than Summer. My favourites (those which I just can’t wait for the next episode) are Fate/Zero (duhh…), C3, Ben-To, Guilty Crown, Mirai Nikki, Persona 4 and Shakugan no Shana III.

Ben-To is a really big surprise. I got very lost at the first episode. The whole idea of a half-priced bento is so pointless, yet with all the action and wolf titles, this one is a win for me.

C3 started off in a kind of fluffy way (I think it’s because of the OP). I was expecting scary curses and stuffs when I watched the trailer. Well, the fluffy-ness soon turned into gore. Loli-Gore. Thumbs up for it. Show ▼

Guilty Crown was really good. I love the insert song sung by Inori and also the OP as well. The voids were really cool. In the normal life, Inori is really quiet, but her reflexes are really fast. I also like her void.

Working!! is hilarious as always. All the comedy and fun are really enjoyable. Nothing much to say. Love it!

I finished Bakuman S1 last week and started S2 few days ago. I’m really enjoying the whole serialization thing about votes as I get excited like Mashiro and Takagi when they’re expecting for the vote ranks. I’m also happy that Mashiro and Azuki’s realtionship have taken another step forward.

I’m still a total loss in Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon like everyone else and I stop watching since episode 4 though I’m still downloading them. I will probably watch it when someone tell me that it’s starting to make some sense.

Hunter X Hunter is very new to me as I never watch the original before but I’m enjoying it so far.

Mirai Nikki… Yandere Yuno and coward Yukki in a survival battle. What can I say? Too much of Higurashi. It’s that simple.

Before I end, how could I not talk about Fate/Zero. Yes! Fate/Zero is awesome in every episode and every aspect. I really enjoyed the battle between Saber and Lancer as well as Archer and Berserker. Though I know what’s going to happen later on since I read the novel yet each and every episode is really good.

Ok. I better shut up now and end this long comment. I still have many more to say for Tamayura, Kimi to Boku, Spuid Girl, Chihayafuru, Persona 4, Shakugan no Shana III, Gundam AGE and Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. I skipped Majikoi, Sekai ichi Hatsukoi, Last Exile and Maken Ki. Shutting up now.

    • Foshizzel says:

Those are some good favorites I love all of those shows! Good news Mirai Nikki, Persona4, Fate/Zero and Shana 3 are all getting 24 episodes! Should be very exciting to me xD

BenTO- This anime wow just wow! Every week it makes me laugh so much and I love it just for that fact alone, along with Squid girl and Gintama I always love comedy.

C3- Shocking how it turned into this gag comedy, drama and action packed series in just three episodes? It had me hooked after that amazing fight and Fear’s weapon is just damn awesome! Or as I call it C3 Portal the anime.

Guilty Crown- You know people hated on this anime soooo much over Twitter, well not really hating more like complaining based on it being original vs brand new. Story aside I love it every week, I am not going to look for anything deeper from the story but I will fall in love with the artwork and music!

Working!!- Damn I love me some Working!! I laugh with Yamada and the rest of the cast they are so awesome, Satou is the best male character next to Takanashi xD

Horizon- Much like Guilty Crown the “story” is kind of lame actually which makes me sad! Then again I wanted to watch it for action and less of the plot.

Hunter X Hunter- I am enjoying this probably because it’s new? I think it’s really slow for story but ah well I still find it entertaining.

Mirai Nikki- I can not get enough of Yuno! Seriously that girl is so much fun to watch. It has soo much deadman wonderland feel with the “games” and death! LOL I just watched I think episode six? Yuno was bad ass! And Yuki did some stuff xD

Fate/Zero- I was probably like every other fanboy and girl out there wanting this so badly! I would have to agree with Jrow on this, Fate/Zero will probably be on every top three list coming soon. It has plenty of godly visuals and like Kyokai said the fighting animation is so fluid and just fantastic to watch!

      IKAAAAA MUSSUMEEEEE <3

Sekaiichi Hatsukoi- A series I never ever thought I would ever watch in my lifetime! But you know what? I am having fun trying something new for a change.

Gundam AGE- OMG OMG OMG I love this! Well I wouldn't lie I think reviewing it I just like to photoshop random stuff on there lolol but the series is really fun to watch.

  12. Amuro1X says:

I’ll make sure to listen to this soon. I have to say though, I finally got around to watching Fate/Zero, and I’m quite enjoying it. So much better than F/Stay Night.

    • Kyokai says:

It’s satisfying to say, I told ya so~ xD

      • Amuro1X says:

It’s not like I had low expectations or didn’t want to watch it, I just ended up putting it off for one reason or another. As much as I bash on the Fate/Stay Night anime, I am glad I watched it because it’s letting me appreciate certain aspects of Zero. For example, the hero that Shiro idolized, Kiritsugu, turns out to be a much more complicated character than just some ally of justice.

        • Kyokai says:

And this should be your cue to play the fate/stay night visual novel, which is pretty good and so much better than the anime.
