Ao no Exorcist MetaCast Review

Join us as we get ready, ready for the take off (of Exorcist that is)~

Hoshi: You might have been wondering when that final review of Ao no Exorcist would come along, but as the Sundays passed and the Fall season came along with hordes of first impressions, there was still nothing! Not to fret dear reader! Hime, Fosh, and I finally came together to bring you a special podcast treat; an Ao no Exorcist series review filled with our fangirling, raging, and serious business discussion with our delightful voices and accent accompanying like a cherry on top of a sundae. From our surprisingly coherent thoughts of the final episode, to twincest musings, to our speculation of the plot to an Exorcist MOVIE (hear that? A MOVIE!), it’s all here in this thirty minute series review, brought to you after almost a month. That’s my bad~!

Mini Summary: To refresh your memory a bit, episode 25 continues the battle against Satan’s ‘evil’ plan to merge Assiah and Gehenna together as Rin and Yukio, joined by Shura and Arthur, do their best to destroy the Gehenna gate. When a combined direct attack fails, the gate begins to move across the city, striking random areas with a red beam while hordes of coal tars occupy the city. Rin and Yukio ride on top of Kuroi to get closer, but are met with another challenge of getting through the demons that guard the gate. When they accidentally fall off, Yukio tries reaching for Rin, yet grabs the kurikara. It unleashes his blue flames and as the brothers finally grab each others’ arm,  they form a fiery-blue, bird shape. Together, they strike the Gehnna gate, finally destroying it (and Satan’s dream of completing Yuri’s dream). A month later, life at the Academy and Cram school basically returns back to normal; the Academy is fixed, Yukio is demoted back to his original rank, and Rin goes back to sleeping in class.  The two even get to visit their mother’s grave after being handed a key by Mephisto to her home in the woods, but it’s straight back to demon fighting as Rin interrupts another mission against a demon who possess  vehicles to bring his own style of fighting to the scene~.

And now for a mini, hnnng-worthy homage to all the glorious bromance and Yukio bad-assery (or fine-assery):

That’s it from us; thank you for listening (and reading)! Until next time then~!!

    Wow **
Too bad I didn’t have the chance to follow, but I want to finish it really badly. I’m not gonna listen to the review, cuz I’m gonna leave soon. But please, tell me, that I must watch it !!!!!!!!!!

    • Toori-chan says:

You must watch Ao no Exorcist. Though they aren’t following the manga’s plot but the story is still fantastic.

    • BlackBriar says:

You MUST watch this!! It’s too awesome to pass up. Not only for the characters, but the story. You won’t regret it!!

    • Namika says:

      You reassured me now.
So, Ao-Ex will be one of the few shows I will actually watch this year )) ^___________^

  2. Namika says:

Wow, I’m the first one to comment! ** Even though my comment didn’t show up ))

  3. Carla says:

I’m a little sad with the end… I’ll put this anime in my “this need a remake” List 🙁
Good Job, It was nice to hear you :3

This was an awesome series. Now I only hope that Guilty Crown can fill the hole in heart that Ao no Exorcist left now that it’s over. But it screams second season and hopefully it will be possible.

You can’t really say everything’s gone back to normal. Because of that huge Gehenna Gate, everyone in the area was stigmatized by demons (Notice Yukio’s classroom has gained a very large number of added students).

This is just proof that the fight’s not finished because Satan will still try to complete Yuri’s wish of a world where humans and co-exist. It was nice that Rin and Yukio visited their mother’s grave and they will definitely, one day, meet her face to face because most likely her spirit is in Gehenna. That said, I still wonder if Shiemi will follow Yuri’s fate and bear half demon children since she’ll eventually pair up with one of the brothers (I’m putting my bet on Rin).

    • Foshizzel says:

Very awesome series indeed! Yeah we have to give Guilty Crown a few more episodes to get the ball rolling! I hope by the third of fourth episode it becomes fun.

Yeah they have lots of new characters to work with for the movie or second series if they wanted to extend the story.

Yeah I figured as much after all! Satan is still alive soooo ya of course, yeah I can see Rin and Yukio eventually meeting up with their mother. Ahaha well we shall see about Shiemi I think she is still way to shy to actually get that close with Rin, she still has her heart set on Yukio xD

Wow, big review thingy. I’d listen to this now if I hadn’t already watched a couple of videos and am trying not to use too much bandwidth in a day what with it being near the end of the month. But soon, I promise!

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep! We love our awesome podcast and special episode reviews! This is our second mini review done in this style, no worries! I hope you enjoy it.

Okay, I’ve listened to it now. This being my first time listening to a Metacast I’ll start by saying I think I prefer your written reviews. You guys are definitely better writers than… talkers? Whatever, that aside, I’m sorry but what with this having a Gecko Ending and all, I don’t really see season two happening. A reboot when the manga’s finished? More than likely. But a continuation of this version? Sorry, as much as I would cheer and whoop if it DID happen, I just… don’t see it.

Well, either way, we still have the movie to look forward to. Whatever that’ll be like.

    • Kyokai says:

This was not an actual Meta Cast but a series review. Our MetaVerse format is completely different. Though I defend the honour of my cutie bloggers because they have low voices and awesome accents. You just have to get used to it I guess. xD

      • Hoshi says:

~In my defense, I was up from 1AM to 4AM working, and sounded quite sleepy. But…I am really shy when it comes to talking on the microphone, even in the Metaverse episodes. I can’t even talk on the phone without having my voice all shaky |’D

I totally agree though; I don’t see this having a second season at all, which is probably why they’re going to make a movie instead. A-1’s going to milk that series for all its worth one way or another.

    • Foshizzel says:

Well these metacast things are sort of new for us, which means when Jrow or Hato are not around it’s up to another person to step up and “host” some of us are dead tired during these I know like Hoshi it was sooo early for me, but were getting there <3

I hope you enjoy our next real metaverse episode! Soon!

  7. Namika says:

I just watched ep 17. OMG….. Yukio is now officially the hottest anime guy I’ve seen. When they showed his back as he was leaving, I almost drolled on my keyboard.
I’m a perv, I know. But that back wad drawn so perfectly ……….. =w=

    • BlackBriar says:

Hahaha, don’t worry, Namika. We’re all pervs deep inside. I was locked on Shura. I thought her massive rack with the bikini top did it for me, but I completely lost it when she was down to her pink underwear. Mind mind was blank and I started drooling big time. Anymore and I think I might die happy.

    • Hime says:

      *pervfist* that sounds terrible

You’re not alone *mops up drool*

      • BlackBriar says:

LOL. We’re gonna need a lot of backup on mopping. That’s a lot of drool we’re facing. It might not be enough.

      • Overcooled says:

*joins in hesitantly*…I wish Bon took off his shirt more. *eyes glaze over*

      • Namika says:

        I hope Rin burns Yukio’s clothes more often…. *ba-thumb*

        *joins in on mopping*

  8. Namika says:

I just finished watching 25th ep. *cries*
That was so gooooooooooood~ I want more TT^TT

I noticed just now, the comment about Yukion finebad-assery :3 *drolls*
Where will I find another character like Yukio~??
