Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 1000% – 10

The harem flag has been raised

Why are all the shows I’m covering laced with stupidity this week?? Okay Dantalian wasn’t that bad, but this episode of UtaPri has me raging for reasons you’ll soon understand. I’m not even upset over my game not arriving anymore because this just completely overshadowed it. Even this doesn’t make me feel any better.

Despite Haruka having six extremely attractive bishies wanting to partner up, her life isn’t exactly rainbows and kittens because she doesn’t know which one to choose. Even worse for her, people are starting to talk because apparently she’s number one on the latest composition test. Why she hasn’t been promoted to S class since she’s so good is beyond me. Oh right and the reason she can’t make a decision is because everyone has helped her at some point.

Anyways, Ringo meets Haruka in a daze in the hallway and tells her that he’s not going to let her drop out if she can’t make a decision. Also, if she doesn’t turn in her form, all 6 of the bishies plus her will be disqualified (….what kind of establishment is this place? That seems kind of harsh), so she needs to take everyone into consideration.

So instead of deciding on a bishie, that night Haruka decides instead to think of Cecil. Brilliant. And then she spends the rest of the night writing something.

The next day, Syo opens his show box to find a note from Haruka and gets all excited because he thinks she picked him. However, he runs into Natsuki who informs him that they’ll be headed towards the same place. So all of the bishies assemble but Haruka is nowhere in sight.

Awkward

So while they wait, Ren comes up with the bright idea that they should figure out who gets to be her partner before she arrives to save her some trouble. However, before they can all battle royale or whatever they were planning to do, Haruka runs in saying that she finally finished. It turns out she wrote a 6 person song so they can ALL be her partners. Otoya agrees right away and Syo does too, but the rest of the bishies aren’t so ready to be part of this sausagefest, so they tell her that they can’t give her an answer right away.

Just then, Shining comes in saying that he heard everything. He says the Haruka’s idea for a boy band is amusing, HOWEVER the composer-idol have to be pairs, so Haruka’s great harem plan is shattered. THANK YOU SHINING.

Haruka acts depressed while the bishies all figure “hey, maybe a boy band wouldn’t be so terrible after all” because they don’t want to waste Haruka’s song. Otoya comes to Haruka with half written lyrics because he loooooves her music and then Syo, Natsuki and Masato show up too. Together, they write out the rest of the lyrics.

So all 5 of them run to Shining’s helipad to make him change his mind. Ren and Tokiya show up too and despite neither of them even seeing the page of lyrics once, all of the bishies go and sing the ending song. Also, Haruka somehow acquires a keyboard during this scene.

If this happens to you when you hear bishies sing, you should probably seek professional help.

As much as I hate to write what happens next, I have to. The song is too fabulous for Shining, so HE OKAYS HARUKA’S HAREM. He also names the song they sang Maji Love 1000% because 100% just isn’t gay enough. So Haruka gets away with being indecisive and Bishies 1 through 6 throw away their chances at becoming the official anime pairing. If there was even going to be one at all. Oh yeah and Tokiya’s manager later finds him sleeping and looks at Tokiya’s phone to see Shining’s name. If they were going to add in so much Tokiya drama, why they heck would they have Haruka form a harem?!

No. Not even giving me Sailor Moon flashbacks is going to improve my mood.

End Thoughts: Okay, I know what you’re thinking (….I think). “Is Haruka choosing the harem ending really all that bad?” YES. YES IT IS. It means that pretty much all possible romance between Haruka and Bishie *fill in number here* is now impossible because she couldn’t pick a partner. If she can’t pick who to write music for, how the hell is she ever going to be able to pick a romantic partner? I rest my case. Also, in the game it worked out that your music partner=your romantic partner. So having her go and chose 1 bishie out of the 6 is like her cheating on her other 5 partners. Our last hope is Aladdin, but he got all of 10 minutes of screentime in his own episode and who knows if he’ll ever show up again.  Tokiya’s 3 episodes of angst don’t even have a point to them now. …I just can’t see her getting together with anyone anymore.  It’s things like this that remind me why I stopped liking harem anime in the first place.

Now for the positive things about this episode. WHAT POSITIVE THINGS?! SHE DIDN’T ACTUALLY CHOOSE ANYONE. *SOB* This just confirms that Shining is the greatest person ever. He made a noble attempt to save this anime from going down the gutter. Sadly, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. Sheesh, even the bishies weren’t satisfied with this… Oh wait, I’m complaining again. Umm…. Well I guess it was interesting to see where the ending’s song name came from. Ahahaha…. I guess I should have seen this coming . The ending totally foreshadowed the formation of the Fabulous Starish Rangers.

…I don’t even know which direction this anime is going anymore. Haruka has her partners and has her song all written out. What the heck is there even left to animate? If she had chosen a partner, she could have had a few episodes of actual romance with said partner. I just don’t know. After thinking about this, maybe they did this whole harem thing to piss off the fans intentionally. You know, make them angry that Haruka didn’t end up with the bishie of their choice, so they go out and buy the game so they get the ending they want. If they were going to do this anyways, they could have at least thrown in the teachers routes. Get people to buy those games as well. Sigh.

I feel justified in dropping this show. xD

    • Karakuri says:

Ahahaha well it was great up to this point. There are still a couple episodes left for it to redeem itself…

  2. Ying says:

I completely agree with you on the harem ending. God when Haruka proposed that all 6 be her partners and Shining shot that plan down I was so happy, and then the ending happened -_-. I was so pissed…okay no i first started cracking up at Shining’s orgasm over the 6 bishies song (don’t know what else to call that XD) THEN I got mad.

I still have hope though that she’ll choose a guy. There are still two episodes left and the show hasn’t followed the games storyline AT ALL(besides the back stories and even then they skipped Ittoki’s) so far so whose to say she still won’t pick a guy. Plus the ending with Tokiya was interesting.

    • Karakuri says:

Ahahaha! Shining’s ….whatever that was made the last bit bearable XD. I have to admit that I laughed during that whole bit there. It might have been even better than having all of them dancing.

Yeah, I realized that they threw the game’s storyline out the window a while ago. Now that my rage has calmed down a bit, I guess she could be paired up with someone within the next couple episodes. It will just be extremely awkward explaining it to the rest of the harem.

”Haruka somehow acquires a keyboard during this scene.”

Well if you look carefully, Natsuki was carrying the keyboard the whole time.

  4. Kitty says:

In real life, a sixsome would NEVER happen….. (none that I have heard of anyway….)How does this girl do it! But what amazes me more about this show then Haruka’s ability to keep 6 guys, is the nice yaoi even number with the perfect pairs already set up ^_^

    • Karakuri says:

LOL yeah I’ve never heard of a sixsome working out in real life either. As for the yaoi pairings, it is pretty convenient. I’m surprised there aren’t more jealous fangirls out for Haruka’s life.

  5. Junko says:

“And so I propose a mass orgy, so intense, we get the principal high.”

    Guuuurl, I like your thinking.

  6. RunGirlRun says:

I guess I was one of the few people that have a strong inkling that this was going to happen. The end theme was a strong indication. But as much as choosing one partner is choosing your romance in the game, I don’t think having her write for the six bishie boyband stops her from romancing one of them…

    • Karakuri says:

Ahahaha… My denial was too strong for me to realize that this was the most likely outcome.

Like I explained in an earlier comment, now that my initial rage has calmed down, I can see that there’s still a chance of her getting together with someone. It will just be extremely awkward to explain it to the rest of her harem.

  7. umi_no_mizu says:

arg with all of the focus on Tokiya, she was surely going to choose him! isn’t there a rule that the bishie with the biggest problem is the one the heroine goes for??
meh who knows, the animators might get “creative” and still manage to make those two get together… all they’d need is a few original scenes right? =/

    • Karakuri says:

Lol, yeah that’s generally the rule. I guess the writers wanted Haruka to keep ALL of her harem. Heaven forbid she reject them and they move on with their lives.

Yeah, there’s still a chance she might still end up with Tokiya… Who knows, maybe she’ll write him a special song or something. That was her dream in the first place.

  8. TheVoid says:

It doesn’t matter anyways cause the only good ones amongst them are Otoya and Syo and they are happy with a harem end.

So Shinings in his heaven, all is right with world!

    • Karakuri says:

I liked Otoya as well…. Ugh but I was hoping for at least a Tokiya end. Ugh, who knows, maybe they’ll still end up together.

  9. raionhime says:

If there was even number of idols and composers, i really do feel bad for those 5 composers who’re not going to get paired up with anyone..

    • Karakuri says:

LOL that’s actually pretty funny if you think about it. Maybe they’ll all pair together? That kind of opens up a big plot hole though… so if you can’t find a partner, you’re kicked out of school…? I don’t know what else they’d do. XD

  10. Elyon says:

I raged so hard during this episode, but the many lulz of the last few minutes made it a little better. Shining Saotome is officially the greatest character ever. XD
I mean…just WTF Utapri. What kind of drugs are your staff smoking and WHERE CAN I GET SOME?!

    • Karakuri says:

Yeah, I was pretty angry when I wrote this XD. That he is. Shining was what made this episode bearable for sure.

I…. don’t know what the writers were thinking. I’m just going to hope the next episodes redeem the series for me.

  11. Alynn says:

“NO NO NO NO NO NO NO” was what I was yelling basically the whole time in the second half of the episode. :I
