Tiger & Bunny – 21

Well…damn.

Sorry for the delay, but I recently moved to my uncle’s house in a new, country town. It’s really hard to get used to moving all of a sudden, making friends, crawling into TV sets and fighting Shadows…The usual. Oh wait, that’s not real life, that’s just me playing Persona 4 for hours on end. WOOPS, NO EXCUSE THEN. Alright, time to turn off my Persona obsession and turn on the T&B obsession. Here we go~

Wanted: Kotetsu T. Kaburagi for the murder of Samantha. He didn’t do it, but no one else even remembers who he is. Refusing to believe this, Kotetsu tries to call Agnes to ask if this is some sort of stunt. She calls the cops (and heroes) on him instead. Poor Kotetsu has to websling to safety, narrowly escaping Sky High’s wind attacks. He falls onto one of the lower levels of the city, and makes a getaway as soon as he can.

Honey, hold the line, I got to take care of this little hurricane

Origami Cyclone and Dragon Kid ambush him in an alley, and give him nothing more than a puzzled look when he tries to explain that he’s Wild Tiger. Apparently, Kotetsu Kaburagi does NOT equal Wild Tiger to them. Rock Bison joins the fight and pins Kotetsu to a wall. When he realizes that even his best friend doesn’t recognize him, he decides he has no choice but to activate his NEXT powers and escape.

It’s not over until every Hero has tried to kill Kotetsu at least once. Blue Rose is the next one to hunt him down, chasing him through a sewer and finally to a dead end above ground. Kotetsu almost manages to make her believe that he’s Wild Tiger by telling her things only he should know (the towel, the dancing, the way she drools over him like you would a Christmas ham). This would have worked had a Wild Tiger fake in a new dark powersuit not shown up at that very moment.

The “new” Wild Tiger proceeds to try and try and destroy Kotetsu. He handles himself pretty well for an old man not using his NEXT abilities, but he’s ultimately taken down in the end. Fire Emblem appears to throw salt in his wounds and flirt with the new Wild Tiger too. Of course, this can’t be the end for Kotetsu…someone has to intervene. That someone is Lunatic of all people. After trying to find information on Kotetsu, only to find all the database files suspiciously erased, he decides to help him escape. WE BELIEVE IN LUNATIC.

Kotetsu has Lunatic and his family on his side. They know Kotetsu better than anyone, and they know he would never kill anyone. Even Kaede realizes that. Her grandmother decides now is a good of a time as any to tell her that Kotetsu is Wild Tiger and has been a Hero all this time. All I can say is, YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD HER SOONER. Once she finds out, she takes all her money and leaves for Sternbild to find her dad. Well, Barnaby. She figures Barnaby could help, but she just runs into Mr. Maverick who pats her head. Sir, you may have just been royally screwed over by laying your dirty paws on this power-absorbing NEXT kid right there. I hope it hurts to lose to a brat.

BLESS THIS CHILD

So all the Heroes may be against Kotetsu, but at least he has Lunatic, his family aaaaand Ben! As soon as he spots Kotetsu, he gives him a ride in his cab, feeds him, and provides him with his old Wild Tiger suit. Kotetsu explains everything to Ben about how Maverick must be the one doing this. Or at least some sort of memory-altering NEXT under Maverick’s powers. But we all know it’s mole-face. Kotetsu concocts a plan to have all the Heroes meet him on the roof so he can prove he’s the real Wild Tiger. With the dark-suited Barnaby on the way to add to this already outnumbered match-up..this does not bode well.

Bonus Ransom Money:

Don’t mind me, I’m just shapeshifting as THE ENTIRE WALL OF A BUILDING

Excuse me, sir,  please buy a taco from me! I give you good price!

Spider Kotetsu, Spider Kotetsu, does whatever a spider Kotetsu can

WAT. O_O

End Thoughts: Yet another episode of me clawing at the arms of my chair the entire time. I love this storyline and where things are going, but I’m afraid seeing Kotetsu treated as the criminal will forever give me panic attacks until everything is resolved. I’m usually titled as the “heartless” one here at Metanorn when it comes to my reactions to watching anime, but when I get involved…Oh, baby. We’re in the final stretch where things need to wrap up soon, so it’s good to see some help rolling in. As expected, Lunatic stepped in to help Kotetsu, allowing a massive slew of fangirls to sudden awaken to the beauty that is YurixKotetsu. Not only that, KAEDE IS THERE! Last episode, I off-handedly said it would be AWESOME if Kaede suddenly busted into Sternbild to help her dad and IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. She has Maverick’s ability copied and seems to end up meeting Kotetsu somehow in the next episode, so she could restore everyone’s memories as long as no one else touches her. Save the day, girl!

Tiger & Bunny still strays off into derpy animation every now and then, but it was mixed with some genuinely great action this time around. Tiger swung around like Spiderman and fought against the fake Wild Tiger in his powersuit without even activating his powers. He’s been screwing around so much, I didn’t even realize he knew martial arts. I’m impressed! It makes me wonder who is in that dark Wild Tiger powersuit. They seem to be pretty skilled at fighting as well, so it’s not just some random dude off the street. They haven’t used any NEXT powers yet though, they just seem to really know how to move that powersuit with precision. Hmm…

The only weird thing about this episode is the distinction between Wild Tiger and Kotetsu. Apparently, a tiny mask is enough for everyone to think that it is Wild Tiger in disguise. Without the mask, he is just the murderer. Seriously, what’s up with that? >_< I hope Kotetsu has a good plan up his sleeves, otherwise all those heroes are going to pummel him. At the very least, I’m glad he figured out that Maverick was behind all this. Now all he needs to do is get back everyone’s memory…especially Bunny. I long for the sweet, sweet moment where Bunny remembers everything and breaks down crying in Kotetsu’s arms. I might be hoping for too much there, but a girl can dream, right?

Preview: Kotetsu faces off against the other heroes and tries to get them to remember who he is once again. Kotetsu meets up with Kaede one way or another, which could be really good or really, really bad.

Remember me? The one you have a million posters of that you kiss every night before bed?

I think this is a great way to build up towards the ending. I was quite pleased about Lunatic’s involvement. I think the Fake Tiger is a robot hero, like the one we saw Bunny’s parents were working on.

Kaede, get in there and save your dad! He’s not quite bright enough to pull it off by himself.

    • Overcooled says:

I can’t wait to see how this ends. I thought they’d make Lunatic the final villain, but he’s actually helping Kotetsu! Having everyone turn on the main character is much more suspenseful to watch…I hope Kaede gets their memories back somehow.

  2. Renn says:

Absolutely loved this episode. I’m impressed that Kaede is much smarter than her father. If it was Kotetsu, he would have said, “Hi, I’m here to find my dad, an alleged criminal, but I swear he’s not guilty–he’s the kindest man I know. Know where I can find him, Mr. Evil Corporation Man?”

I’m guessing that the new Wild Tiger is a robot (yes, I’m making it sound like it’s not obvious). And you’re right–the action this episode is incredible. I’m hoping the copious derp in other parts means they’re saving for a theatre-worthy finale.

    • Junko says:

I’m for the robot thing, makes sense. Otherwise they’d have to find someone else with ‘hundred power’.

      • Overcooled says:

Thank you Kaede, for not inheriting Kotetsu’s stupid gene! She’s going to end up being a better Hero than her dad at this rate.

Gah, I automatically assumed someone would have to be inside it. Okay, yeah, it’s a robot XD

  3. Alynn says:

This episode. So amazing. My innards are screaming at me but at least Kotetsu is in a slightly better predicament than before.

Oh man, I love your screencaps and the captions. I still want to know WHAT THE HELL Origami Cyclone was doing.

ughhh I am so anticipating the next episodeeee. I need more Kaede.

    • Overcooled says:

Haha, I know what you mean. It hurts so much, but I CAN’T LOOK AWAY.

Thank you~ I really don’t get how the hell he could shapeshift and yet come out of the wall…because that’s just…whack. <_<

  4. Junko says:

All the amazing scenes running through my head where Kaede kicks everyone’s ass to save her daddy by stealing the powers over and over while fighting and being all crazy and I can’t even explain it properly she’s so fly XD

OMG Origami Cyclone, I’ve been trying to figure out how your ability could be at all useful, and you use it to be a wall. A. Wall. The hell, Origami, seriously..

    • Overcooled says:

She’s just naturally badass. I’m seeing a lot of fanart of her kicking ass too, it’s great XD

Never let a weeaboo try and fight crime, THEY DON’T DO ANYTHING RIGHT.

  5. Foshizzel says:

Lunatic for the win! I was really surprised he stepped up and helped Tiger of course he doesn’t belong to hero tv so he has his reasons xD

I was waiting for Kaede to jump in to help her dad out, I wonder if she can figure out the truth! I was glad she didnt get found out by maverick! So closeeeeee.

I loved those new power suits for the fake Tiger and Bunny got a upgrade look! Damn so bad ass looking can’t wait to see more of them 😀

    • Overcooled says:

No one suspects the little girl, so she’s safe…for now.

I like the new suits too, although the flashing lights around Wild Tiger’s eyes are a bit distracting. I hope those become their new official suits. :3

  6. Kitty says:

Had major love for Kaede in this episode. Also -dislike- Bunny-chan’s new suit AND Wild Tiger vs. Barnaby is one battle I really don’t wanna see. Thou I’m hoping it pulls a sailor moon! Everything can be healed with the power of love XDDDDD

    • Overcooled says:

Really? I love the black and red colour scheme, it’s pretty slick! I’m with you on dreading that battle though. Kotetsu will not be able to take on Barnaby given his current skills…D:

lol sailor moon…they all just hug and make up, and then Maverick explodes from the love.

  7. angotokuraun says:

I’m really worried about Kotetsu in here.. But beside of that I’m glad Kotetsu was able to figure out that he was being framed and who was doing it.

And it was the first time I was glad to see Lunatic. And the ending simply Awesome! I’m kinda sure he’s gonna make them remember the real Wild Tiger!

    • Overcooled says:

Come on Kotetsu, you can do it! He’s got it figured out, he just has to prove that Maverick’s been tinkering with memories to everyone else now! I hope he has a good plan to make them remember.

  8. Mad Chemist says:

After everything that’s gone wrong to Kotetsu, it’s just great seeing something go right for a change. Lunatic’s rescue was pro, I loved the chat with Ben and Tiger ready to throw down with everyone in his old suit was pretty awesome. I’m sure he has a plan to get his friends’ memories back, but I doubt it’ll go off without a hitch.

I’ve been loving this arc, and the pieces are coming together for Maverick’s plan to blow up in his face. Whatever Kaede does with his power, it’s probably going to be very visible and I want to see how Tiger reacts to seeing his daughter in this situation.

    • Overcooled says:

He’s starting to turn things around. Hopefully he wins them over in the next episode, or the one after that. I don’t want to see Kotetsu be targeted by his friends for much longer.

I think the finale is gonna be GREAT. The look on Maverick’s face when he loses is going to be priceless!

  9. Elyon says:

I’m rooting for Kaede to save the day! I’m glad they decided to make her come to help Kotetsu instead of having her just sit at home.

    Also, I couldn’t resist:

  10. sans says:

my fav part is when kotetsu fight faketiger. HE KNOWS MARTIAL ARTS! oldman, respect to you!

i dunno much about martial arts, but looks like kotetsu learn judo, or jiujitsu from the way he throw that fake-suspiciously robo-tiger (but hey, kotetsu also use some move when dealing with lady killer at ep 16)

overall i really like this episode. instead going emo-emo for too long like typical main chara, kotetsu decided to fight head on vs the world, with his prideful identity, wild tiger.

he maybe impulsive and reckless, but he’s mature emotionally ^^

    • Overcooled says:

He’s still got the touch! Respecttt. We do some judo throws like that in our dojo, so the throws might be from judo. As for his fighting stances, I don’t know enough other martial art styles from my own to pin point it. It looks like some sort of kung-fu. o.o

I love Kotetsu, he’s always ready to face whatever trouble is thrown at him.

      • sans says:

        woah you do? cool.

i’m not too sure, coz at first i thought kotetsu only learn boxing, since he frequently using fist and those hunched stance looks familiar in boxing or karate. and as for bunny i suspect he do taekwondo, but maybe they learn more than that

please, please i hoping the next epi would full with action! sunriseeeeeee

        • Overcooled says:

Interesting observations~ I haven’t seen Kotetsu fall into a set style until this episode where he showed off some moves. He’s been all over the place before then, it seems. I can totally see Barnaby having done Taekwondo or even Muay Thai…anything with a lot of kicks.
