Gintama – 207

Glasses are part of the soul!?

So what’s in store for us after that last dramatic episode? Not even sure! However, this episode seems to be setting up a short arc for Ayame’s character. Other than that I recently went back to watch episode 142 through 144 where Kagura gets to fight and the appearance of her strange brother. I recommend you to check that mini arc out if you are a Kagura fan.

Plot this week centers around Ayame and her broken glasses, which causes Gintoki to buy her a crappy pair until he can replace her red ones. The problem is, she gets too attached to Gintoki’s glasses and it starts to screw up her job resulting in her getting injured. So, Gintoki and the others jump in to help Ayame out.

Gintoki- “Oh, don’t give me that face, you will get an arc soon, Kagura!”

Ayame-“You really do care about me!”                           Ginoki-“……oh god why…”

We start with some comedy by Ayame sneaking into the odd jobs house. That is until Ayame’s glasses get broken, leaving Gintoki a bit responsible for the damages so he offers to buy her a new pair. Smart idea, she won’t think you like her or nothing, right? Wrong! Ayame takes the new glasses and treats them like a boyfriend! Even feeding it, taking baths and going out on a date. Yes, this girl is really messed up but still fun to watch even if she is mentally insane.

Oh yes, coke bottle glasses are so in.

Yep, I think Ayame has officially lost it! Then again she never had it to begin with…

Gintoki uses stop-being-dumb kick!!!

Gin-san- “Listen, take these glasses please!”                                       Ayame-“NEVER!!!”

Unfortunately for Ayame, the new glasses from Gintoki backfire on her. As they begin to affect her job and screwing up some important missions. That is until her bosses send an elite group of assassins to take her out. I guess she needs a new line of work. Ayame fights them off only to end up hospitalized resulting in Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi to form the Assassins of Assassins Squad! I died with that name.

Stop being a team killer there, Ayame! Or we won’t invite you to the party!

Ayame- “I will take all twenty of you on!”                 Assassin-“Huh, there’s only… oh forget it!”

Is this another epic meal time but with ninjas?

Kagura-“Needs more bacon, honestly…”           Gin-san-“Yes, yes, more bacon next time.”

After crashing Zenzo’s place, which was the best damn scene ever! Hahaha, so good! Anyway they decide to hide Ayame there and confront the Assassins head on. However, with any plan involving Gintoki and the others there are bound to be issues. They end up leaving Zenzo alone in the house, while they go out ending the episode with the real Assassins showing up.

Gin-san-“You want something while we are out?”             Zenzo-“NO! GET THE HELL BACK HERE!”

Assassin- “I look so fabulous with this basket on my head…”

Ayame gives new meaning to cleaning glasses this week.

Kagura demands you join her for dinner NOW!

End Thoughts:

Another great Gintama week! This episode was a mixture of serious stuff with the right amount of comedy, which is what makes this series so much fun. Although Ayame is more of an annoying character with all her stalking of Gintoki, then again she can’t really see too well that always gives a few comedic moments with her talking to a wall or a completely different person. And those coke bottle glasses screwed up everything; however, they are a gift from the guy she loves to follow.

Watching Ayame go as far as taking her glasses out on a date was kind of hilarious! From that character I was expecting something strange but feeding them? And going to a love hotel? HAHAH! Damn, she cracked me up. The best moment would easily be Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi walking down the street dressed up as Assassins! Holy crap that killed me! So damn funny and the stealth cooking scenes, very good this week on comedy.

So looks like we are getting our first actual fighting arc for the brand new season, really looking forward to watching everyone take on the Assassins. I have seen episodes with Zenzo in action, even though he is a really crazy character with some “issues”, he can pull his weight in a fight at least. Hell, even someone like Shinpachi proves to be a great fighter when the time calls for it, so I am looking forward to some action scenes!
