First Impression – Honto ni Atta! Reibai Sensei
Five minutes of spiritual craziness
Oh, wow, Reibai Sensei’s sub is already out since Monday and I’m writing about it on Thursday. I’ve been abstaining myself from anime since Monday (which was TORTURE) so that I can pass my Advance Math test, but it seems like luck really isn’t on my side when it comes to Advance Math >.< But since it’s Easter Vacation now (YAY!), I can watch anime till my heart’s content. ^^
Now, Reibai Sensei is just five minutes. So, for those who are really bored, please do watch Reibai Sensei.
Yoshii Akiko is an eighth grader now, and like ALL students in every freakin’ anime, she’s just EXCITED for the new term to start. Really, who would be excited if there’s Math? WHO!? And it seems like her homeroom teacher is also new, so Akiko is DOUBLE EXCITED. Gosh, this girl’s a total nerd.
Um, something escaped from the zoo…
The mean and ugly bullies that only have one expression throughout this episode feel like bullying the teacher, so they decided to lock the door from the inside. That way, the teacher can’t come in. OH WOW , WHAT A WAY TO BULLY. The teacher is smart though. With the super power she got from Superman (I’ve been reading about Young Justice by the way), she was able to jump to the window and get into the class. In a special way.

Meet Kibayashi Juri, the new homeroom teacher. Her eyes look as if she has a hangover. Was she smoking weed or simply drunk? Anyhow, one of the normal student asks her what’s her hobby is, so she decided to demonstrate her hobby.
She obviously has eye problems here
HOBBY 1: CALL THE DEADS AND GET POSSESSED. THEN THREATEN YOUR STUDENTS THAT YOU’LL EAT THEM WITH SALT.
She needs to get creative with her pose
PICKLE ANYTHING WITH SALT
HOBBY 2: MAKE NOBUNAGA AND MITSUHIDE POSSES YOUR WEAK STUDENTS. They will torture the male students with chains, ropes and wooden horses. Then make your possessed students set the classroom on fire.

End Thoughts:
Thank god it’s just five minutes, or else I would’ve wasted my entire life just by watching this anime. No, I’m not saying this is good. I’m talking about how I would’ve wasted my time in a bad way if this anime is longer than five minutes. I think this sucks big time. All my expectations went pfffft down six feet under. I need to stop having expectations on anime. Haven’t I learned from Fractale?
One thing I loathe the most from this anime is: the animation. I’m not a professional when it comes to animation, but I know I hate the animation of this anime. I’ve never been fond with this kind of animation. Except there’s this one yaoi anime that has similar kind of animation. But that’s yaoi, so it’s excusable. This is NOT YAOI. I want a nice spiritual anime (except Ao no Exorcist) with nice animation. The animation looks so poorly done. Seems like they’re not putting much effort into it. Tight on budget? Seems that way. Is this even an animation, not some kind of animix?
The story is so-so. I find the teacher to be amusing. Juri definitely reminds me of Nube, and I Love LOVE Nube. But of course, Nube is nicer than Juri, and Nube doesn’t have eye problems. The characters are so-so as well, since I don’t see anything special about them. I don’t like how sometimes one character only has one expression though. That’s just mean. At least give the character two expressions! I know it’s just five minutes, and the animation sucks, but put some effort in it! The design on the characters is very simple too. One character I like is the pony-tail girl because she’s such a wuss and faints on everything. And the one character I hate is Yoshii Akiko because she just annoys me. And she likes school.
Bottom line is, Reibai Sensei is bad. Period. It’s not like I didn’t get any good laugh from this. I did laugh at some of the scenes. Some. But even the story can’t save it. It’s just so bad I’m so going to watch it just to make fun of it now. I know, I have no life.

The animation wasn’t the best but it was well worth five minutes of just pure laughter, and when an anime achieves that, I think it deserves a special mention (such as by Metanorn!) Definitely recommend this when you’re either wanting a laugh or when you’re just idling (aka procrastinating from work) on the internet 🙂

Aha the animation is supposed to be like that on purpose, it’s troll-like which just adds to the humor. I personally absolutely fell in LOVE with this series. It’s short, funny as hell, and that’s the point!
It’s not supposed to have award winning animation, or super deep characters. There’s no deeper meaning to it. Just take it for what it is at the surface level and enjoy.
If it’s not your cup of tea that’s fine, but I wouldn’t insult a series just because it’s doing exactly what it was created to do in a simple manner. 🙂
As for the ‘budget’ they definitely aren’t low on it – there are some very good seiyuu that voice in this series.
I finished episode 02 today which was equally entertaining and I can’t wait for more!

Aww, don’t be so hard on the show. Once you saw that it was a five-minute Flash anime, you should have lowered your expectations dramatically, like I did. Personally, I see it as this season’s Nyaruani – nothing amazing, but it’s quick, simple fun that I delete after watching. Not every show needs to be Kino’s Journey or LoGH to be enjoyable.
The ED is amazing, though.
