Mazinkaiser SKL OVA – 02

Mazinkaiser! Now with more GAR-Power!!

It’s Mecha time on Metanorn again! Welcome back to Mazinkaiser SKL, the best action and amazing OVA with robots kicking other robots! Last OVA had its fair share of action with some story thrown in. Nothing really complex about this series yet, just pure chaos and mindless entertainment!

Plot this time puts Ken and Ryo up against Garan and his large army. While the guys fight, Yuki runs around the different bases in order to shut down the Gravity Curtains before the island blows up.

Gatorade commercials of the future have guns in them!

Meanwhile at club rusty, a fight breaks out!

Yuki- “Here’s the problem! Too many pop up ads.”

Garan- “I hope that is the Pizza man! I AM STARVING!”

Ryo and Ken raid Garan’s castle after deactivating the Gravity Curtain at Kiba’s base, Ryo jumps out of the skull ship to engage Garan personally with his large sword. That’s just how manly men like Ryo talk to other dudes! But Garan gets bored and demands they bring out their machine to fight against his robot.

Everything bleeds in this! Yes, even the machines.

Garan- “Mine’s bigger!”                                                      Ryo-“…………..”

I like this mode better! The guns aren’t too bad either.

Guess it’s all about cool factor, Gun-pose is badass too!

Garan might be old but he is one tough old dude!

During the fight with Garan something strange happens to Ryo as he freaks out screaming about not being a copy! Guess we have some cloning going on this time? This affects them during the fight after Ryo gets knocked out. While the guys fight, Yuki is off finding her own giant robot to fight with them! The episode ends with the Mazinkaizer SKL falling into a hole created by Garan with Ken and Ryo knocked out after being overpowered.

Wake up RYO! -PUNNCCHHH-

Yuki finds her big sister taking a shower.

End Thoughts:

I am still a newbie when it comes to Mazinkaizer! But so far these OVAs are really easy to get into, not that everyone will enjoy these as much as me. For one the mechs bleed, which is really strange; however, I think it adds a little flavor to the machines, almost making them human. This is almost dynasty warriors with big robots, especially with the large scale battle scenes.

Garan seems like a great character, he is a bad guy but a very cool dude. Not too crazy about that beard but I guess they are going for a warlord look. I did love his awesome robot! It has such a great color scheme going on. Although I still think the Mazinkaizer looks ten times better than any other machine so far. Can’t wait to see Yuki get into her mecha for the last OVA; it would be very interesting to see her actually fight.

Now for Ryo’s big freak out, pretty sure we have a clone thing going on. Now the question! Which one in the flashback was the real Ryo? Guess we will have to wait and see, not sure why they wanted to add drama in here. Probably has something to do with a previous anime series, either way I don’t mind the clone idea. Overall this was a fun ride! I love the epic rock soundtrack they have going during the fights, really pumps you up to see the Mazinkaizer owning the enemies faces.

Next week! Yuki gets to join in with the guys to fight Garan! So excited to see her machine in action, the design is a bit strange, mecha with pointy boobs but hey, we are still watching Star Driver, right? I have a feeling they might really be rockets, lol. I guess we wait another month or so to find out!
