Freezing 9 = Project Ranka Lee!

Welcome back to more busty girls saving the universe aka Freezing! After last week’s fail prom themed episode, let’s find out if an extra character this week can make up for the lack of action. Going solo on this review this time as Ness got busy with lots of work. Also an extended happy birthday to Hato , Flags and Captain! Well, onto the review!

Plot this week follows the introduction of Cassie, who screams Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier at least hair and eye colors. We mostly follow her past with Satellizer, while Aoi finds out Cathy has some of his sister’s stigmas in her and a Nova finally show up to cause some chaos.

Cassie-“Please, listen to my song later!”

Aoi is flown out to meet Cassie; he gets to watch her in action thanks to some virtual training. It’s a giant arcade machine!  He quickly can see she’s a skilled fighter and the reason for her to meet him because she knew his sister. Damn Aoi, your sister sure got around, no wonder she is so popular. Cassie also has some of his sister’s stigmas in her so she feels some sort of connection between them.

Short haired Satellizer has extra rage issues.

Cassie has a few flashbacks of her first encounter with Satellizer, who also has some stigma shards from Aoi’s sister! So she is inside every high rank? Sounds pretty kinky and you can tell the two of them didn’t become the best of friends. Aoi returns to school only to hear that a Nova finally is on the move and attacking a nearby city. Cassie is sent in to take out the Nova; however, she doesn’t like to fight so is pretty scared to jump in.

Pre-battle undressing? What?

OMG THESE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING! AHHHHH!!

Not just one Nova but four! We need bigger boobs err guns to defeat them.

Sadly, the Nova overpowers everyone after firing off a massive laser attack, which is new for them apparently. And something strange happens as the Nova begins to absorb the girls, guess they have all kinds of new tricks. Cassie is absorbed into the Nova with no way of escaping; back at the school Satellizer overhears Aoi saying she reminds him of his sister. Of course she only hears half and runs away crying, assuming he only paired up with her because of that fact.

Nova uses FUUUUUUUUUUUU-You-beam-of-death

Cassie-“…This is not my idea of a concert, guys!”

I did feel somewhat bad for Satellizer… Aoi made her cry, she better kick his ass later!

End Thoughts:

First half was more background story on the newest addition Cassie; she seems like a nice character but hard to tell just from her looks. We do learn she really isn’t into fighting, in fact she is more afraid of battles than anything. First time Ness and I saw her in the preview with episode eight and we both were like Ranka! Which is funny because that hair design is so a rip-off from Frontier, I was surprised she wanted to be a writer I was waiting on them to make her a singer! Hahahaha.

Second half was more story progression with the Nova suddenly appearing. I was getting worried that we wouldn’t see any of them ever! I blame the damned prom episode. Also the Nova has started to use new attacks! They have had a lot of time to train thanks to filler episodes. So, I’m really happy to see the students fighting the true monsters and not each other every damn time they get a chance.

Near the end I felt bad for Cassie for being absorbed like that, what a way to go! Damn you Nova, taking out Ranka like that. But I did spoil myself so I know a few more things about Cassie. I also wanted to slap Satellizer! She didn’t hear the full story Aoi was talking about. Oh well, guess that is one step backwards for Aoi and Satellizer fans, also they forced a bit of drama to happen in the next few episodes.

Next week, new Nova types appear to beat everyone up! Also Satellizer and Aoi enter the battlefield, let’s hope they can overcome the drama of school and kill some more Novas!  I want to see Rana fighting too, please!
