Yumekui Merry – 02

So many girls this week…

Week number two of new anime! So exciting to see what everyone likes so far. But for me I look forward to more Yumekui Merry! Just can’t get enough of her she is so damn cute, but I don’t want to call this a moe show as all the designs are really interesting to see. Not much going on this week for me at least but was great reading all the top ten lists from the others! Great number one shows.

This week in Yumekui Merry, the plot introduces more new characters, well mostly girls and an odd elf boy/girl I can’t tell, I shall call it a Kebler elf! But I saw no cookies… The rest of the episode shows off a villain, a strange long redhead girl named Chizuru who doesn’t seem to be all there in her head anyway. She gives off a creepy vibes and we also learn more about Yumi, another student and her friendship with Serio aka elf-boy from her dreams.

With this spoon I shall take over the Universe! Thanks Bunmei for spoon powers.

Note to self, don’t eat cookies from a creepy elf.

Merry wakes up at Isana’s house and spends the night on their insistence. She also gets to have a chat with Yumeji as she explains what is really going on. Merry explains John Doe is one of four dream demons she has ran into since she woke up in an unknown place. Now, I like my idea of him being Spawn but fine Merry wins. She then tugs his arm demanding for him to send her back; however, he is unable to do so and she gets depressed until Isana brings out some doughnuts to cheer everyone up.

Mmmm anime food looks so damn good! *drool* and Merry inhales them.

Merry leaves the house in the dead of the night in order to do her own thing. Next day Yumeji and the others go to school and meet the creepy Chizuru. Never trust the quiet girls! They are very sneaky than others. As the day ends Yumi wanders home till she triggers a random encounter in her own dream land. She sees her elf friend get killed in front of her. Yumi then, walks off after her dream with a dazed look in her eyes. We can only guess when Sergio died she lost a part of her or simply she has been turned into a vessel for the demon who was after her.

“Is she on drugs?!  Ask her if we can get some of that….”

OH DAMN! We are so screwed!

“No it’s cool, I got this, just stand there.”

Someone just got deleted! Noooooooooooo!

“Hmmm what was I doing again? Oh yeah, pretending to be Minori from Toradora.”

Extra stuff!

Like I could leave this out! Bath time. Woooooo!

Yeah, I make the same face for off brand…

Merry’s Bleeeehhhhh face is damn cute.

Lelouch you are not! Stop it!

End thoughts

This was definitely not as fast paced as the first episode but not bad either. First half was very story-filled, which was great! Nice to see what John Doe and Serio really are. The idea of dream demons works for me and how there are various kinds too. I had my doubts about Serio because when I first saw him and heard he made a contract with Yumi I was like yeah this is probably an evil one. Because after he was killed off Yumi’s eyes went all glass like, so I wonder if she lost her “soul” after Saori was killed or it was all because of that other demon whose voice we only heard.

The rest of the episode wasn’t so bad either they did throw a few new characters at us, that Chizuru screams evil just based on her blank looks. Then again she could have lost her body to a demon much like Yumi, I did remember seeing her in the ending of the first episode so maybe she was taken over. While watching Merry’s story, it is so similar to Celty from Durarara! Well not that this is an original idea, not knowing who they are or what they are until someone tells them.

The best thing about this episode was all the fantastic music, really great job! There was a section near the first half that was so much like Durarara style in music, really creepy and upbeat during the fun moments. And of course the doughnuts made me go Cuteeeeeooooo!! Merry has some great expressions.

Preview!

Next week, more new characters and demons! More dream world fun and creepy bad guys talking to little kids. I guess Merry will eventually jump into other people’s dreams and save people, by kicking demon ass!

Thanks for reading, see you!

i went all zzzzzz in this episode bcz it was kinda boring. it was jumpy too, jumping from one scene from another for the sake of making it shorter. i r not amuse.
either yumi is shocked, lost her soul, or her body is taken by the other demon. i think it’s either shocked or lost her soul though.

and jeez u take pics of legs in mazinkaiser and now it’s bath pictures? you’re getting more extreme now *thumbs up* HEHE

    • Foshizzel says:

True the first half was really boring, but kind of cool to see the story thrown in there.

Yeah I think Yumi lost her soul or just had her dream world crushed making her kind of zombie like.

Hahah well that bath shot was found on another site but used it anyway XD

      • Dan-go says:

i think she’s just a vessel now, probably still rescuable, but behind the thingy that killed serio

I really like Merry too. It looks like anime is starting to turn down the tsundere a little, but it’s still there, and I’m a-okay with that (Amu-chan should be the measure for perfect tsundere).

Damn the art get’s crazy in those dream world whatever bits, really liking it.

Chizuru wasnt in the last ep as far as I remember, but I asume the combination of her and Yumi is a bit of narritive forshadowing and possibly one mini arc that’ll roll right into another. Nice planning

    • Foshizzel says:

Yes! That’s the most dramatic change for JC staff main lead girl, merry does cry more than others but whatever shes a great character 😀

Heck ya dream world art is amazing!

Yeah shes probably working for some one darker, I bet she is collecting or killing off the dream demons.

I really liked this episode too. No matter how this shows turns out, I’ll just love it.

People may complain that it’s boring because it didn’t focus much on demon-ass kicking but you can’t get a show just out of epic fighting scenes (something that Merry has already proven to be EXPERT at) Still, there’s no doubt that the dream world is the best thing in the show. But we’re still on the beginning; I’m sure we’ll get plenty of it as the story progresses.

Also, Serio’s gender is indeed an issue. I’d bet he’s a boy but I’m not sure. Maybe it’s a TRAP! >:O

    • Foshizzel says:

Agreed with you there I love it too!

Right they want more in your face Merry kicking ass, nice pase so far course we can’t have action all the time. They have to squeeze story in there at some point. Dream worlds are great stuff, really opens up chances to do so much for story.

      Hahahha yes elf trap.

    • anaaga says:

i prefer to think of the elf being a girl, so i can have my yuri shipping >:D

      • Foshizzel says:

Lol true there are so many girls in this I can see some Yuri somewhere even if it’s with dream demons….

  4. Tofu says:

I guess we’re gonna get some more action next episode, I guess the whole point was to make the first episode awesome looking, then if people are hooked, the producers can add in a “explanation” episode afterwards which is fine, they did a good job informing about Merry and the Dream World but I hate anime’s where all they do is talk and explain but you don’t want that because the characters or the story line hasn’t gotten anywhere ><"

I'm having the same feeling of wanting to eat Mapo Tofu when Kanade eats it in Angel Beats as to Merry with donuts and that drink! mmm…. I want to try it~ And I want donuts!!!

For some reason Merry reminds me of Mato from BRS ^^ (I'm sure I should be running right now…) But overall, an awesome 2nd episode, let's just see if they can continue the awesomeness in the 3rd episode~

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep looks like things are headed in that direction, course more Merry is always a good thing.

Hahah yes! I liked the donut scene so good, she takes after Vash and his love of that 😛

I can see that too she has that fun yet cute side to her.

  5. amado says:

I feel like the emotions were pretty downplayed than they should be, like isana was supposed to be sticking her tongue out when yumeji teased her about getting fat.

anyway I decided to sneak peak a bit on the manga. and I found out that its not really much diff except they cut off some parts like merry’s “dream” before waking up, her having having a nostalgic feeling to incense and other things like that.
they also altered the order of events like the part where merry explained things about her and stuff like john doe being the first to know something about her then trying to make yumeji sleep on the park bench before crying then fainted. this was supposed to happen before yumeji brought her in.

its still pretty faithful(I have only read up to chap 3 for now). but it still feels slightly boring to me.

    • Foshizzel says:

Oh right agreed she was like depressed one moment then entered wtf happy crazy eyes.

Yeah I was tempted to look at the manga too just to see how things go with that, but I might look at it a bit later around the fifth or sixth episode.

Nice! let me know how things continue in the manga course without spoiling to much 😛

All food in anime looks amazing >< I'm totally hungry now. *goes off to get dougnuts*

  7. Juliancan says:

I liked this episode, though a bit of a disappointment compared to the first one, it is good nonetheless.

I have a tick though for the father’s scar. Was it just made for appeal or is it kind of symbolic. After all, it’s still not mentioned how Yumeji got his p0was.

    • Foshizzel says:

Yep that is true, still good agreed!

Ah yeah the scar on Isana’s dad nice touch shows he has some back history, I am sure we will get to see into his dreams sometime or something like that 😛

    • Dan-go says:

i thought this episode was an improvement on the first, more development of the plot less wtfness, and you always need a calmer episode after wtf episodes to clear things up…unless ure pns or shaft

      • Foshizzel says:

Oh of course we have to have our quiet and calm episodes thrown in! can’t have to many fights over and over.

  8. Dan-go says:

THE ALL POWERFUL DONUT OMNOMNOMNOMNOM, it truly is reality’s treasure

    • Foshizzel says:

Need to get some dunking doughnuts Mmmmmm

    • Juliancan says:

Amazing, I’m literally craving for it after seeing this comment -__-. And it’s past midnight here in Europe.

      *drools*

      • Foshizzel says:

Lol! yeah I took a peek into Merrys bio she loves them! and hates soda.

I noticed the can she drinks actually appears in the Index season one opening, there is a shot of Touma slipping on a blue can might be the same name too since both are JC staff.

        • Dan-go says:

ZOMG TRUUUE, you are one sneaky ninja foshizzel

          • Foshizzel says:

Haha yes I am! thanks! So guess we can call the can a cross over soda or something maybe more like a cameo appearance…

Absurdo!!!!!! Isso faz parte do esporte… e se a F1 deixa-se de existir por causa dos riscos nas suas décadas e se os rallys deixa-sem de existir por causa do risco de atropelar alguém? O perigo faz parte do esporte e é uma das coisas que o movem.
