Toaru Majutsu no Index II – 13

Let the end of Oriana come already!

This week has been different, finding out which new winter anime to actually enjoy versus so many fail shows! This seems to happen with any new season anyway; they can’t all be winners. Before I get to the review I want to give a few shout outs! A huge thank you for all the birthday wishes! And a big thanks to everyone here at Metanorn for making it a wonderful day. We may not meet in real life, but you make me feel very happy to be a part of an awesome team!  THANKS!

This week Index II returns where we left off with Touma and Stiyl battling the annoying Oriana and her magical keychain of spells. After a failed combo punch from Touma and Stiyl’s lack of aim hitting Oriana in the chest, yes he actually punches her boobs. She pulls out all the stops and uses all her spells at once in a last ditch effort to finish off Touma but of course fails. Touma almost passes out after a large DBZ type attack until he remembers being the main hero and knocks Oriana out.

Stiyl missed on purpose! He wanted to touch da melons.

Oriana Summons Golem! Touma uses Right arm, it’s super effective!

Touma aims for the chest! That’s her main power source!

After defeating Oriana, Touma and Stiyl hear the voice of Lidvia for some last minute boss gloating. She informs them that the St. Peter’s Cross was not even in Academy city, rather outside of the city. Unknown to her, the city is about to start the night parade, filling the sky with fireworks and lights defeating her chance to use the cross. Seems strange, Touma was in freak out mode; guess he read the script!? Sneaky…

Join me, Touma! The dark green side compels you to!

“Victory is mine! Muhahah, OH WHAT THE HELL, FIREWORKS?!”

Not going to lie around here. These smiles are kind of creepy…hopefully they don’t hug later.

The next day, Touma wakes up at the hospital magically arriving there somehow and is greeted by an aggressive Index.  After hearing his story she bites him as usual. Why the biting! She’s got a hair fetish or something?! Kuroko and Mikoto arrive to inform him he lost the bet between them and has to pay up eventually! Are we going to see a Mikoto and Touma date?! One can only hope.

OM NOM NOM NOM BRAINS

Lidvia manages to escape on a private jet thinking she’s safe, laughing away her defeat, until she hears the voice of Laura and has a bit of a forced ejection from the jet. Laura’s just mad Lidivia didn’t invite her on an awesome beach trip. During the skydive Laura offers to save her if she joins her cool church club, but she refuses and takes the St. Peter’s Cross catching it and falling to her death protecting it. Back at the hospital, Index visits Himegami who learns Touma protected her along with Academy city once again, and smiles knowing he cares.

This is going to be the best trip ever! Wait, where’s that draft coming from?! /falls down to her death

WHY SO SERIOUS?!

End thoughts

The beginning half was the typical Touma rant about the need to protect his friends and how Oriana is evil and needs to meet his friend, Mr. Right-fist. I was happy to see Stiyl not completely give up, after being kicked around. Glad to see Oriana finally defeated after what seemed to be six episodes or more! She was an all right mini-boss character but I found her very annoying near the end.

I liked the second half more as I enjoy Index the comedy; of course it all happens at the usual spot: the hospital. I have no idea how Touma gets there every time, guess whoever is with him, transports him? Was great to see Misaka arrive and show off her evil grin. Just wonder what she has in mind for Touma’s punishment for losing his bet; guess we will wait and see!

I forgot to mention Alistar grinning and talking about Touma’s Imagine Breaker growing. I guess that tells everyone that Academy city knows how overpowering he is. Or they want to use his power for something darker, which might actually be very cool turn of events! Things are getting great plot-wise anyway.

Next week Touma and Index go on a small vacation to Italy! They meet up with Orsola while looking around. Looks like it will be a comedy filled episode or one full of chatter moments.
