Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai – 10

Kyousuke isn’t even a pimp. He’s getting pimped. Slap slap.

It seems only the other day I was writing a giant catch up post. Oh wait. It pretty much was. Despite the catch up post, I’m here to deliver to you the tenth episode of Oreimo. As you all have probably read all our new authors articles I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re all awesome additions to the team. But you don’t care about the team, do you? You just want anime. Anime anime anime (and music). So I wont stop ya!

And with no delay, we move forth! From the beginning we can see that Ayase will play a part in the episode. To open, we have her asking what kind of present Kirino would want. However, it can’t be a normal present. It has to be something relating to her hobby. Which is anime and eroge. Catch is, it can’t be anything dodgy. That seriously limits what she can buy. Kyousuke agrees to think of something so she asks Kirino, who jut thinks he’s trying to get into her pants or something. Plus, he lets slip this stunner of a line, “What are you, my girlfriend?”. Ten points, Kyousuke. And a five fingered bruise on your face.

So to no avail, he turns to Kuroneko and Saori. As they trudge around Akihabara searching for some sort of doujin, or figure, nothing can be found. That is, until Kuroneko stumbles upon something. Kyousuke thinks they’ve struck gold. As he proposes the idea to Ayase. Cosplay in a Meruru cosplay content, win the one-of-a-kind figure which happens to be the prize, and make Kirino super happy. Unfortunately, the character Kyousuke wants Ayaseto cosplay is pretty much nude, and that doesn’t go down to well with her.  After /some/ debate and choosing characters, Ayase has an idea, and a person, who looks exactly like Meruru. And this is where things get tricky.

As Ayase calls in her friend, Kanako (whom we met episodes back), Kyousuke poses as a manager. The deal is, she participates in the contest as a scouting session, Ayase gets the prize. However, Ayase pretty much forces her into it, so she has to participate anyway. And she changes into costume, the resemblance is uncanny and rather hilarious. As they prepare for the performance, Ayase and Kyousuke hide in the crowd, only to spot Kirino, acting like a crazy bitch. Ayase whimpers away and Kyousuke goes up and tells her to keep a low profile, as one of her friends in performing.

After ham-beasts and last years champion, Kanako finally comes to the stage, wowing the crowd with an unexpected song and dance routine. All the fans go wild (Kirino included) and she takes out the competition (ditching the prize of course). And funnily enough, Kirino never even realized who she was. Kyousuke finds her after the performance insulting everyone she can, including last years winner, who seems so distressed and terrified (I don’t think she’s ever coming back to Japan. Just saying…). He somehow manages to talk some sense into Kanako (without her noticing it’s him) and stealthily steals the figure. Ayase hands over the prize as a gift and all ends well. Except for Kanako getting arrested. That’s just plain hilarious.

End Thoughts

The OP has an epic battle between Kuroneko and Kirino. This is the only screen
I’m showing, so do yourself a favor and watch it!

ASTRAL FINISH!

New Zealand cosplay at its worse.

~Kira!~

Phew! That’s a lot of Oreimo in one week! I think I’m finally realizing the purpose of these seemingly pointless fillers (much to my embarrassment). You see, with other fillers in shows I’ve watched, they have, literally, been useless. However, these Oreimo ones do actually build character and they keep these episodes /in canon/. It’s something I haven’t seen in a while. And if I have, I don’t remember them. My mind likes to filter out the bad stuff.

It seemed odd seeing Ayase again, especially after she condemned Kyousuke to hell for being a Siscon. I thought she wouldn’t even be able to meet with him, let alone speak to him like that. Though it is nice to see Ayase /slighty/ taking an interest or accepting Kirino’s hobbies. It’s weird that she would hate something that much, even though Kirino is her best friend I mean, would you hate any of your friends if they liked anime? Hmmm. I guess that’s a bad question to ask an an ANIME SITE. Good one, Hato.

Despite these episodes contributing to the story in the bigger picture, it doesn’t mean they could be more story focused. In saying that, however, what is the story? What is the overall goal on the plot? There is nothing there to drive it forward, bar the promises of ‘Life Counseling’, which, if I might add, is taking I long time to finish. Just hurry up and pay for a therapist, Kyousuke!

This actually translates to ‘Hato-kun’s review can’t be this awesome’. True story.

Standard Oreimo preview really. Text! Kyousuke’s voice! ‘俺の妹がこんなにマイドなわけがない!’ Then the seven day wait for the next episode. That features maids. Why must you destroy me with waiting times?! Well, at least this news about THE NEWS TOMB-‘EFFEN’-RAIDER GAME should calm me. Hot damn.

Haha, i was also raising eyebrows at Ayase’s yandere(posessive) friend behavior myself but I think her role to the audience were to represent the ‘normal people’ who finds the hobby of anime/manga to be repulsive. (I used to have to deal with those people in life) and that Kirino’s double life is still a shock to her.

Saori and Kuroneko sounds very much like my otaku friends when we hang out together. Hitting so close to home, i like.

Bah I was waiting for kuroneko and kirino in maid cosplay.

I guess thats for next episode assuming the translator translated the preview title properly or actually did make a mistake and was supposed to say “Hato-kun’s review can’t be this awesome” 😀

  5. Joichi says:

ROFL, i went to watch it as recommended and laughed! Dark Queen chubby cosplay, soo true! I was agreeing with Ayase like how ‘if it’s a kid’s show, why are there so many men’ *cough*Maho-shojo Nanoha series*cough*

Oreimo Ep 10 despite being a filler in a way it was awesome, I definitely loved it especially Kirino going “Kira~ Kira~!” x3 Yeah…weird… but anyways!

The OP in this episode would most likely be one of the best from Oreimo BECAUSE of the battle scene between Kirino and Kuroneko~~ ^^ How could you NOT watch this Captain? Oreimo is the bomb~

KYAAA~~! Ayase~! So cute~ x3 I want to see more Ayase! ><" Haters gonna hate but I don't care about you guys, Ayase FTW!!
