Ore no Imouto ga Konnai ni Kawaii ga Nai – 03

I don’t mind if you forget what it looks like. Just tell me one thing about all the things you’ve destroyed.

Crap. Not the best way to start a review, but a start nonetheless. Fear not, the episode is absolutely awesome. The ‘crap’ was for getting the review out on the day of episode fours release. That’s just not cricket (If you don’t know what cricket is, google it. And that’s a common saying in New Zealand). Apologies, and on to the review? Yeah, I think that’s the best course of action at the moment (Is it ironic that I’m writing this review to ‘Little Sister’ by QOTSA?).

From the get go of this episode, we’re pretty much given the impression that all is well. Kirino is still modelling, Kyousuke is still awesome, Kirino is still playing her Eroge and Kyoousuke is still awesome. The only difference is that Kirino actually has friends she can talk to about all her animu-otaku stuff. Yeah, she’s still hanging out with Saori and Kuroneko, they seem to be getting on well, which is great. But with everything so nice and quiet, how can we have a good anime?

As Kirino is out painting the town some unknown otaku color with Saori and Kuroneko, she asks the two how they keep their dirty secrets a, well, secret from their parents. To Kirino’s surprise, their parents know, and not only that, they do not care. Strangely enough, she finds this incredibly unbelievable, though doesn’t state her parents would despise her for it. Alas, she enjoys the rest of her day with the two. However, when Kyosuke returns home from a day out with Minami, things take a turn for the worst…

As Kirino returned home, she accidently bumped into her Japanese equivalent of Arnold Schwarzenegger father and dropped her Meruru DVD. Unfortunately, she  picked it up, and saw there was an Eroge in there, so he went all Hulk. When Kyousuke returns home, she runs out of the house, forcing Kyousuke to chase after her. As Kirino talks with her brother in a café, she gets all emotional explaining what their father said. He called her games and anime worthless, and she doesn’t like that kind of talk. Despite it looking like the end of the world, Kyousuke devises a plan and vows to fight for Kirino. Now what could he be planning….?

He confronts Arnold, sorry, I mean, Daisuke about Kirino’s hobby. Strangely enough, Kyousuke puts up a damn good argument. He reasons that if she has brilliant grades and works to buy all of these things, why should there be a problem? As he agrees to let Kirino keep her hobby, it’s not over yet. The fact that she’s playing R-18 Eroge games, is still illegal. Luckily, Kyousuke has a plan for that as well. The games are his! He loves little sisters! Playing and Little Sister Eroge in his little sisters room on her computer makes him so damn hot! He receives a punch in the face for his efforts and told he’s a worthless son. Cue make ups at the end of the episode, Kirino pulling the ‘Aniki’ title and cue Kyousuke yelling ‘Ore no imouto ga konnai ni kawaii wake ga nai!’.

End Thoughts

What is this. Why is this in my anime. It seems a bit too much to be ‘subtle’…

‘I came’.

Come to meeeeeeeeeee.

THIS

IS

SPARTAAAAAAAAAA

And I think we can call that the end of the first arc, don’t you? It was quite entertaining to see the whole first half of the episode seemingly wrapping up the arc. Everyone is out and about having fun, and as soon and Kyousuke entered the house it was like “Oh my God, who turned the lights out why is it so scary I’m so scared”. It was a great atmosphere and I’m glad they explained that like in the manga.

However, not all is exactly as the manga portrayed. The whole ‘let Kirino keep her hobby’ scene was done a bit differently. From what I remember, there wasn’t much actual ‘punches’ thrown, and Kyousuke didn’t claim possession of the Eroge so maybe they just changed it for the anime? They decided that it would work better in an animation medium? I’m just making stuff up now.

I thought the punch that Daisuke threw was actually a little unnecessary. I mean, sure. He’s an oppressive parent who is also a cop, so of course he’s gonna be a little concerned (a little understatement there) about his kids, but would he really punch him straight in the face? I was expecting his face to cave in or something, that would’ve been awesome. I thought it did, actually, but going back and taking the screen nothing spectacular happened. Except for a punch in the face

Well, Ore no Imouto doesn’t actually have previews. I discovered that after watching three episodes. Instead, we have simply the title of the next episode. The that picture? Can you read it? Should I translate? It says “Ore no Imouto ga Natsu Kometoka Iku Wake ga Nai”. Should I translate again? “There’s no way I’d go to Summer Comiket with my Little Sister.” Oh yes. I translated right. Be excited.

IIRC the dad punch actually happens in the light novels.

Oh it did? I never read the novels, but it doesn’t happen in the Manga from my recollection. I guess they changed it from the light novel.

This episode was full of laughs xD sure there was sad parts where Kirino get sniffed out but i liked the whole father and son.. ermm, i mean hulk/Arnold Schwarzenegger and son scene (would anyone do that to there dad?) O_O knockout punch FTW!!

You have a few choices for this game mode:
    1. Save Kirino
    2. Save yourself
    3. Save the Eroge

    I CHOOSE 3!!!!!

to be honest i was mesmerized in the end scene around Kirino saying Aniki… (kyaa~!) ^^ am i a freak? LOLS

OMG I loved the knockout punch from his dad. BEST SCENE EVER.
I also liked how his thought process came up like options in a VN/galge/eroge.

  4. BlackLagoon187 says:

Ahahaha best part was when he claimed the eroge and his dad asked “So you play games about doing naughty things to your younger sister?” (something along those lines)
Kyouske goes “Yes I do. Got a problem with that biacctthhhhh????!!”

Kyousuke is one awesome brother and when you have Kenpachi, Gendou and a cop all rolled into one. Epic punches do occur. ^^
