“Natsuno…It’s me.”
Before we begin, think about how you imagined this episode would turn out. We knew it would include some face-off with Shizuka, Natsuno, Megumi and Tohru, so I’m sure you have some vague idea of what you thought would happen. Picturing it? Good. Now wasn’t your mind blown juuuust a little when you actually sat down to watch the episode? I’ll save the gushing over how AWESOME this episode was for the end thoughts, but man….this episode was awesome.
Finally continuing with Shizuka, we see her sitting alone…in the dark…not creepy at all <_< Natsuno’s mom tries to bring her tea, tell her Natsuno will be home soon, and turn on the lights. Shizuka snaps at Natsuno’s mom to not turn on the lights, and like a beaten dog, she slowly slinks away.
Y-yes Shizuka-sama! Anything you say!
This episode does a bit of time-jumping back and forth from the night of the raid of the Ozaki clinic to current time. We get to see Team Okiagari gathering together to hear Tatsumi plan to attack the Ozaki clinic to get Setsuko. At first I thought he used hypnosis on them, but Megumi disobeys him so..I guess not. What this scene is really about is how fabulous Tatsumi looks.
After waiting for a good 2 weeks, we finally get to see Natsuno coming home to the brat in his room to resolve the cliffhanger. Except she’s not there anymore. We don’t even see her again in this episode except for flashbacks. WHUTTTT??? Instead, Natsuno has a very rigid conversation with his parents, asking if they invited her in and if they let her bring her “brother.” The dad at least has enough intuition to sense that he made a large mistake letting that girl in.
For the last time Mom, I’m NOT a lolicon! Stop letting little girls into my room!
TIMESHIFT AGAIN. Team Okiagari are just about ready to head on their merry way to gorge on Setsuko’s blood, when Tatsumi asks Shizuka how her plans are going. She’s convinced Natsuno will die tonight. Megumi instantly pipes up, telling them to leave Natsuno alone (or at least let her kill him) but Tatsumi shuts her down. Speaking of shut down, Nao got owned by Megumi. Yeah, serves you right for killing your family.
The next day after Shizuka’s visit, Natsuno’s dad makes him a chair (which is like his big gift, I guess). When he goes into Natsuno’s room to deliver it, he sees a bunch of crosses and charms. For some reason he gets mad and takes them all down, and specifically tells Natsuno not to put any more up when he asks where they went. So now the dad is being dumb? Great. Natsuno makes sure to take time out of his busy life to warn Kaori and Akira to tell their parents to not be as incompetent as his.
And now…time for the night when all the action happens…2 nights after Shizuka barged into his humble abode. Natsuno is sitting on his bed, cradling a wrench in his hands so he can fight for his life. How tenacious. He manages to stay brave despite a tapping at his window and even the violent shaking of his window by a mysterious male figure. He thinks it’s the okiagari that attacked Kaori, but we all know who this REALLY is from the previews~
At a maddeningly slow speed, the figure walks around the house to the door, which his father left unlocked. Are you serious? So it’s not the women that are stupid, it’s just the adults? (and maybe Kaori) *facepalm* Natsuno takes his time to explain that his parents are hippies, but NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THAT.
The silhouette is back at the window, where Natsuno is poised and ready to counterattack. That stance is broken by a single word. “Natsuno…” The soft tone…the warm familiarity of how he speaks the name…”It’s me.” The wrench clatters to the floor. Shellshocked, Natsuno’s mind is racing with thoughts about his dead best friend. Even his heart must be aching for Tohru, because he opens the window…
Cue screaming “DON’T DO IT!” (although, I wanted him to do it because any Tohru and Natsuno contact is supported by me~) as it’s too late. Tohru grabs Natsuno and tries to drag him outside with one arm…he uses the other one to hide his eyes. Since Natsuno has a huge upperhand, he just breaks free and ends up seeing the trademark okiagari obsidian eyes, complete with a blood red ring.
Tohru runs off to cry behind a tree, which could possibly be the most adorable sight ever. Something about crying, it makes people look so vulnerable~ He’s bawling his eyes out over having to kill Natsuno via Tatsumi’s orders. On her way to Natsuno’s house, Megumi stops and makes Tohru feel horrible. Tohru even worries for Megumi having to face Tatsumi’s wrath, despite the fact that she’s being a huge bitch to him. Tohru…so nice, even now!!!
Betch.
Now this is where my cold, cold heart thawed just a bit. Natsuno runs out of his house calling for Tohru, as flashbacks of their strong friendship play in-between. Natsuno didn’t get why Tohru, someone so loved, wanted to spend his time with Sulky McEmoface who was so…disliked. It just reminds you how much of a good person he was, and how being a killer doesn’t suit him at all. Poor Tohru…
Natsuno runs into none other than Tatsumi. He gives his usual cheerful introduction, before proceeding into a threatening tone. Right off the bat, he tells Natsuno that because he knows okiagari exist and is hunting them, he can’t be allowed to live. WOW so direct! He mentions that Ozaki is also hunting them, which could be useful for him to know for co-op possibilities. Except that Tatsumi decides to call Megumi out to attack Natsuno so that he can’t run. That knowledge is now useless! Nooooo!
But Natsuno isn’t meant to be bitten by Megumi or Tatsumi. No. He deserves…
…His lover friend, Tohru.

End Thoughts: AMAZING episode!!! Even the music was great!I might be overjoyed because of Tohru, but the little plot twists and way everything was executed was just wonderful. I could have never predicted that outcome! To think that Natsuno would be bitten not even halfway into the series! Although…you need at least 4 okiagari to suck up all that blood and there’s only 3 present. But let’s not get our hopes up…he’ll be in a near-death state by then and under heavy hypnosis.
I had my theory going on about Shizuka being the evil one, Megumi going to warn him, and Tohru coming later on to be Natsuno’s inside spy. But Shizuka did like..nothing. She got the invitation so Tohru could do the dirty work, and then high-tailed it out of there. I doubt this is the last we’ll see of her though. She’ll be back…
At first I was like WAY TO GO NATSUNO’S DAD for noticing that you messed up. But then he goes and gets rid of the amulets and crosses, most likely because he just doesn’t want to acknowledge that craziness is going down in Sotoba. DENIAL WON’T WORK!
The okiagari are still very much the same as they were when they were alive, personality-wise. Now that they must kill, we see what kind of people they really are. Nao is needy and doesn’t want to be alone, to the extent where she kills her family so they’ll be okiagari too. Megumi is so obsessively in love with Natsuno that she still stalks him and kills anyone close to him. Tohru can barely bring himself to kill, still looks out for others, and is ashamed of himself for killing. I really like seeing how they act as an okiagari, because in a way, it shows their true colours.
Preview: Anyways, might as well speculate for the next episode, even though it won’t be for a while. Looks like Seishin dies thanks to Sunako, and the Kirishikis move into the spotlight a bit more. Ikumi, I believe she was called, the ugly red-headed villager lady who gossiped for like 5 seconds a few episodes back seems to play a more important role now. It just gets better and better…<3
But guys, there’s no Shiki for another 3 weeks. (Feel free to rage about it with me.) That’s three weeks without me posting about Shiki, aren’t you going to miss me? I…It’s not like I c-care or anything! Idiot!
EDIT: …OK, so apparently episode 11 will be released as planned, but there is still a 3 week hiatus after episode 11. I’m still tentative to confirm the hiatus though. S..sorry for scaring everyone like that…I’ll..be more careful next time…TT_TT You can yell at me if you want to……
News Update by Kyokai: The next episode would be airing next week because the synopsis is already available on the official site. However, the show might go on a hiatus after this as a mid season break. I’ll still wait for the official update on their site, ANN or Moonphase to confirm this.

1)I agree w you 100% w you! this episode was just amazing!
2)I still can’t believe natsuno’s parents…are they for REAL? *facepalm* they are next in my Death Note (So, far I have them and the doc’s fugly wife)
3)Tatsumi just gets hotter each episode :ohohoho: or is it just me?
4)and yes…I thought the same thing “…His lover/friend, Tohru.”LOL

I know, what a horrible episode, geez. I’m dropping this show now it was so bad.
I kind of gave up on the manga, because it feels so different. It just doesn’t feel right because I’m so used to the anime o__o The same happens if I start with manga first…can’t watch the anime…lol.
I don’t want to wait 3 weeks for Tohru, so I’m hoping that magazine scan was wrong. We’ll be checking the official site for updates~

well, i think they’re doing this so that this will slows down the anime? because the anime is really fast, it’s almost halfway to the manga. and the manga isn’t done yet (although it’s coming to an end). so maybe they’re waiting for the manga to be finished? imagine if they have to make their own plot for the anime… *facepalm*

I SO LOVED IT HOW MEGUMI GOT PWN’D BY TOHRU! Yes, I had to use caps. Teehee~ This was an amazing episode, even with a preview, it came to such a different conclusion. Though I was expecting Natsuno to turn soon as per the hints from OP even including Ritsu and Seishin; Daume has to introduce a new OP/ED after all (maybe around episode 13).
Let’s see how long Natsuno would take to turn but its evident anyway. Btw, where did you get the news about the 3 weeks without an episode? (I CAN’T WAIT THAT LOOONG?! :baww2: ) I have so many Fall plans already, this would overlap with me covering Shiki for Sekijitsu…. I checked ANN and official site; there’s no such news; what’s the source?!

Umm, I was browsing a forum after watching the episode and it says there will be a 3 week haitus according to an October issue of Animedia that was published yesterday…Sorry, it’s in Japanese though lollll but here’s a scan . Indeed, Shiki turns out to be a fairly amazing show. And I enjoy it to the last bits. It’s just too long to wait for the next episode, it it will really come out in 3 weeks.
Man, I can’t even imagine what will happen from now on! I’ve said it a lot of times before, but this time I’m absolutely serious!!!!!
And Tohru has proven himself as one of the lovable characters of all times! A boy crying so sincerely is such a rare sight, and it made him look surprisingly vulnerable, helpless and so adorable….

Yeah I dont think I will be able to last so long with out my weekly dose of horror and unsparkly vampires I was watcing with my friend and when we saw Tohru and freaked out
I still feel like screaming no and it probably didn’t help that we watched Kuroshitsuji right after we had to go console with a box of ice cream
