Cat Shit One – 01

Bad bunnies, bad bunnies. What’cha gonna do? What’cha gonna do when they come for you?

How often do you see rabbits shooting camels in the face? That’s not a trick question by the way. I first heard about Cat Shit One a few years back. To the best of my memory, I remember there being some animated trailer as well. But it was nothing like this. As I started watching it, I was blown away. I thought it would be a small animated opening that would lead into lackluster animation and I’m glad I was wrong.

War. War never changes.

The first episode follows Sergeant “Packy” Perkins and Private “Bota” Botasky. They are both rabbit and they know how to use a gun. We are quickly swept into a hostage situation, with several ‘Canaries’ being held in a small abandoned village. Their captors, the camels (Who I can only assume would be Iranian) become agitated as one makes a run for it. They shoot him down in cold blood in front of Packy and Bota. With backup too far away, Packy decides it’s their duty to rescue the canaries themselves.

As Bota provides sniper support from a nearby hill, Packy slowly makes his way through the camel ridden village. With some stylish teamwork between the two, they manage to eliminate a couple of camels, unfortunately alerting them as well. As Packy sneaks into the holding room with the canaries Bota is spotted and fired upon with several RPG’s. Some awesome explosions take place and Bota calls on Packy for help. He complies and goes all ‘Soap’ on the camels, clearing the area.

Don’t worry kids, he’s just tickling him. With bullets. Hrm….

As the regroup they are told that reinforcements are on their way and they must relocate for a pick-up. As Bota and the canaries head off, Packy stays behind to buy them sometime. He takes out most of the camels but then is overwhelmed and pinned down. As his life flashes before his little rabbit eyes, Bota shows up out of the blue to rescue him! Yay! They fight their way through the village another batch of camels appear in front of them and they are pinned down once again.

OH SHI-

In the nick of time, Angel One (big ass helicopter) shows up and saves the day, blowing the camels to smithereens. As Bota and Packy fight back they eventually push back the enemy and run off to the pick up spot. There is an awesome sunset shot as they walk towards the helicopter and the credits roll.

End Thoughts

I’m trying to think of a Splinter Cell joke with rabbits in it. Nothing is coming to me, sorry xD

“Switching to your side-arm is always faster than reloading.” (10 points to whoever gets it :P)

This anime has provided many firsts for me. Like seeing both a rabbit and a camel fire an RPG.

Easily the best shot in the whole show xD It made me laugh for aaaaages.

I’ve never written the word ‘camel’ so many times in one piece of writing. It’s rather frightening. I was pleasantly surprised by Cat Shit One. The fact that it used CG animation blew my mind, and that it was so wonderfully brought together. The episode felt like it should have been the last 20 minutes of a really epic war movie that stars rabbit and camels, which is hindsight is really odd. How the hell did Motofumi come up with this? If someone can tell me it would be much appreciated.

Thankfully we get a nice dose of character development as well. Botasky and Perkins have such contrasting personalities it’s just a perfect disaster waiting to happen. Even the little narrative foreshadowing that Packy brings up made me chuckle. One thing that did confuse me was that in the manga, it apparently takes place in Vietnam, fighting cats. (Hence “Apocalypse Meow”) I’m guessing they changed the setting to fit in with the current views of the public, yeah? I thought that was a little stupid to be honest. Everyone is so caught up in todays wars and the middle east, it’s getting a little silly. Why doesn’t everyone just leave everyone alone, yeah?

Another unfortunate little thing is that it felt like a stand alone episode / animation. MAL seems to point it to being a 12 episode ONA, but can I trust that? I would love 12 episodes of this, but in the way that this episode was tied up, I was left a little doubtful. Only a few things were really left unanswered, the big one being CMS. I’m probably a bit stupid and can’t work that out, but I assume that it’s the task force that Packy and Bota work for, or a PMC. Either or, that could be one thing that ties the stories together, providing that there are 12 episodes.

One of the most epic shots in an anime. Thumbs up to these guys.

I officially love Cat Shit One. The CG was brilliant, story was simple and fun and the fact that I watched 23 minutes of rabbits shooting camels in some unnamed middle eastern country is purely awesome. I genuinely hope that there are more episodes, just so I can see those rabbits again. If anyone has read the manga, please comment with your thoughts! I’d love to hear what everyone else has to say! 😛 Also I apologize for it being late, my five-year-old Mac doesn’t like pictures very much >///<

Up top you said wrong to Greynight when he said Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 but you said correct for CoD from Kami-sama O_O I don’t get the difference…

Do you mean CoD Modern 1? not 2? because I highly doubt you would of thought CoD and Call of Duty was different to each other xD

(I’m just putting out my suggestion, I’m not trying to be mean or anything, if you found it mean then I apologize Hato) T____T

At first thought, i didn’t think rabbits and camels in a war anime would be good until i decided to give it a shot when my brother started watching it and honestly… IT WAS SO GOOD!!! (never judge a book by it’s cover) *thumbs up*

I think this episode is a OVA… so the actual series hasn’t started..is it? please tell me it is D: it would be disappointing if it was a stand-alone episode

Bunnies shooting camels For The Wind~! :rage:
