Wondergirls – Nobody [English Version]

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy-F5bXXBv8

Here’s the official Wondergirls US Debut Single “Nobody”. Is it just me or does the video is like… re-dubbed? O___O. But anyway, the English version is still catchy (even though I still prefer the Korean one) and it’ll probably get stuck on my head for a long long time just like how the Korean version did lol.

Will WG hit mainstream popularity on the US? Same question goes to the same artists like BoA, Utada Hikaru and such, who also had debuted their US songs. More power to them, and I’ll just ignore the haters… Go Wondergirls and prove America’s in for a yellow fevah~. :cheer:

…*shudders at the dub parts* Not a really good impression to make with their first song into the market. Cuz the original can be easily found on Youtube, making this version seem dull and…well, bleh. But at least there are some differences I can see. That’s just the choreography, though, and that didn’t really strike out at me as much either (is it just me or do their dance moves look more held back? o.O; )

As for the song, it’s okay but I can barely hear them. Wonder if that has anything to do with the language barrier. Not that I’m surprised if it is cuz y’know, everyone is more comfortable with their mother language and all but…yea, it’s hard to hear anything other than “I want nobody, nobody but chuu!”. There’s no…confidence or any feeling to it. *sigh* Nuu~ 😥

I don’t mean to be too critical b/c I really do like the fact that WG is going international but since it’s very difficult for Asian artists to break into the American music industry in the first place, I was expecting more of :rage: PUNCH!-start. Or maybe I’m setting the standards too high (they can get popular with a later song for all I know) cuz Hikki got a pretty good reception with “This is the One”. Then again, Hikki is on a different level (she’s an American fluent in both languages, she sang for KH, she writes her own songs, etc) but still, she at least got some recognition.

Don’t know much about feedback for BoA’s album but it was different enough to not ignore. Even though I thought most of those songs went totally against her true image, it at least can catch attention.
“Nobody” on the other hand…ugh, I hate sounding so negative but it just doesn’t make the cut. This is just all my not-so-substantial opinion, though, so I hope I’m wrong. I really do. T_T

So yea, more continued support for WG and hope that they’ll give us something much better after “Tell Me”.

OH NOES ANYTHING BUT DUBBBBSSSS :red:

(Oh, we’re not talking about anime right now?)

The song itself is catchy as hell regardless of the language, but yea the originality factor’s mostly gone (plus I’ve gotten rather sick of hearing it the entire time on the ship to and from, and of course in Korea itself last year :S
