Paradise Kiss Live Action Film?
Do you remember the post I made last time about my live-action adaptations wishlist? Lol I probably have to put on a check mark on one of them ^^. Paradise Kiss is currently being negotiated to have a live action film. More details below~

The Fox International production company is negotiating to adapt Ai Yazawa’s Paradise Kiss fashion and romance manga into a Japanese-language, live-action film. The story centers around a high school student named Yukari who is discovered by “Paradise Kiss,” a group of up-and-coming fashion school students. The students transform Yukari into a fashion model, and she discovers a new passion for a future career and potential romance in her personal life.
Fox International is working with Japan’s IMJ production company to produce the film with a budget of US$3 million to US$4 million. The two studios plan to establish a traditional Japanese production committee of partner companies to market the film across several fields. Fox International is also producing a Japanese version of the 2004 sleeper hit film Sideways with lead actress Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, The Sky Crawlers). The publisher Shodensha sold 6 million copies of the original manga’s five volumes since Yazawa serialized the story in the company’s Zipper fashion magazine from 1999 to 2003. The manga has also been translated into 10 languages, including English.
So what do you think? I know people will start getting “Nooo! Fox destroys ye another amazing manga etc blahblah” because everytime I hear Fox, I’m still shuddering in fear of the Dragonball Evolution movie *pukespukespukes* But what makes this one possibly better is that Hollywood (and Zac Efron *phew* XD) is out of this one, since it’s a Japanese film targeted to Japanese audiences ^^.
Also like what I’ve mentioned on my wishlist before, Paradise Kiss is something that I feel a live-action version can be pulled off, since there are no silly fantasy elements and such that would really look cheesy and stupid when not executed well in live-action. Most of all, I think the budget they have is pretty interesting as well and I wonder which designer/s will they pick for the outfits. OMG I hope the outfits will still be as fierce as in the manga and anime! They should also choose the proper actors and actresses ^^ (and a hot guy to play George~ Oh, and I wonder how they’ll handle Isabella as well XD).
Still, I’m basically not keeping any hopes up, since it’s live-action. But I’m just being optimistic ^^.

I completely agree, I think ParaKiss would make a fantastic live-action film, mostly because it’s about fashion, which is easily done (well…as long as they have a kick-ass costume designer and a lot of money for the costumes).

I agree with you so much since this one’s completely different from Dragonball because this is more realistic and something we can really imagine being live-action. I’m a fan of the manga and I hope they would not disappoint.

I feel this is good news. It is a reasonable title for adaptation by it’s nature, so I wouldn’t expect it to be mangle so badly it angers ppl, but… some people don’t want to be pleased :/

i agree. they shouldn’t use american actors/actresses. dragon ball was an epic faliure, thank god i didn’t see it, all my fantasies about piccolo would be ruined! lol, i honestly can’t wait to see how this will turn out :] the fashion will be drop dead kick ass amazing! I can’t wait to see who plays George oh la la la. and miwako!!! :thumb: this is going to be the highlight of my year :]
